Before commissioning the seed drill, you should carefully read this operating manual and the safety instructions (”For your safety”) – and observe them; you should also read the instructions for a soil finishing tool. The operating person should be qualified in safety requirements and be instructed about the dangers by the instruction for use and maintenance. Please pass on all safety instructions to other users. The relevant safety regulations and the other generally recognised technical safety, health care and traffic regulations are to be observed.

Beware of the ”warning” signs! Instructions in this manual with this sign and warning graphical symbol on the tool warn of danger! (for explanations of the warning graphical symbol see appendix ”pictogram symbols”)

Loss of guarantee The drill has been manufactured exclusively for usual agricultural uses. Any other use is considered as not in accordance with the requirements of the law and the manufacturer is not liable for any damage resulting from this use . Observing the prescribed operating, maintenance and upkeep conditions is considered use in accordance with the requirements of the law as is the exclusive use of original spare parts. By using external equipment and/or external parts (high-usage/wear and tear spare parts and other spare parts) which are not allowed by the Poettinger manufacturer any guarantee is cancelled. Unauthorised repairs or changes to the device and failure to monitor use (that all blades sow) exclude any liability for any damage which arises from this. Possible complaints on delivery (damage in transit, incomplete units) are to be immediately communicated in writing. Guarantee demands and guarantee conditions to be observed or liability disqualification are in accordance with our delivery conditions.

Safety Instructions

Before coupling and uncoupling, set the tractor’s hydraulic unit to „position control“! When coupling and uncoupling, do not allow anyone to stand between the tractor and the machine; also stay clear of the tractor and machine when the external hydraulic console is in use. Risk of injury! Ensure that when lifted, the seed drill (with its row markers folded in) does not come into contact with other objects – e.g. with a rear-hinged window! Ensure that there is sufficient space to manoeuvre (when the hopper is full), and attach a suitable weight to the front of the tractor. Before operation, ensure that the tractor and machine are both in safe operating condition and that the relevant guards have been attached. The operator is responsible for safety.

Do not transport the machine with a full hopper! Never allow anyone to climb onto or to ride on the machine (or loading platform), and keep clear of danger zones (swivel area)! Before leaving the tractor, lower the machine, switch off the engine and remove the ignition key. Always lower the machine prior to performing adjustments or repairs. Do not reach into the hopper or place objects into it when empty. The agitator (if installed) may turn if the machine is pushed (when the spur wheel is turned) with transmission in > „0“ position. Danger of injury or damage to machine! When filling the hopper with treated seed and cleaning with compressed air, please note that seed dressing is toxic and irritant. Wear appropriate protective clothing! Ensure that no one is near the machine before operating or towing. On steep slopes, allowances are to be made for the centre of gravity of the purchased combination. Before using the machine for the first time – and after long downtimes – check the oil level in the transmission and that all bearings are adequately greased. Check that all screws are tightened, and that there is no leakage in the hydraulic unit.

Brief Description of the Machine Once assembled, the pneumatic PÖTTINGER drill machine ”AEROSEM” (with quick coupling device) is fitted on to soil finishing tools. The seeds from the large hopper, that has a waterproof lid, are centrally batched for the full working width and then equally distributed to the sowing coulters. The batching is carried out via a drive wheel, the air for the transport of the seeds – via the distributor head to the sowing coulters – generates a seed shaft driven, low noise impeller fan (hydraulic fan fitting if required). Through the simple, central, switching from coarse grain to fine grain and through the continuously adjustable oil-bath transmission, all desired sowing volumes of the different types of seed can be selected. The hydraulic seed rate adjustment means that even during operation, the seed rate can be selected to suit the different ground conditions. Shoe coulters and broad shoe coulters can be interchanged without the need for tools. Alternatively, single disc sowing coulters can be supplied. The coulter pressure is separate on the coulter and can be adjusted centrally with a spindle – or hydraulically when on the move. The disc markers can be fitted up to the middle of the shoes, and are hydraulically switched; this means that the electronic tramline switching and tramline demarcation are automatically managed. The numerous possibilities for fittings, the simple and convenient operation and the short down times through the simple, fast calibration and the easy emptying of residue make the PÖTTINGER ”AEROSEM”, in conjunction with the PÖTTINGER soil finishing tool, a powerful tool to order.

Loading Instructions When loading the drill machine (lifting), always support it from four points: 2 x eyelets on the front tie-bar (3/2), 2 x eyelets on the coulter rail sowing support (5/2). 2 Use a crossbar and textile belt, check their load bearing capa- city! 1 Keep clear of suspended loads! Only lift the drill machine by itself and only when the hoppers are empty (without soil-working machine).

3 Set-Up Assemble the three-point saddle and belt pulley onto the soil-fi- nishing tool according to the special assembly diagram (see Ap- pendix. Saddle triangle should be perpendicular to the seed shaft drive. Maintain a distance of 115 mm. Power 1000 U/min). 3 Bring the combination machine under the drill machine that is standing on supports (3/1) – and lift. Secure the three –point coupling with a tensioner (4/2). Place the corresponding eyelet screws. 2 Remove the supports (3/1). Lower the combination. Adjus the parallel assembly bars at a small distance from the coulter rail to fit the ”gripping roller” – (5/B1, B2, B3).

1 e.g. B2 – on MKE (variable transmission), PKE, VKE, HKE, 4 B3 – on MKE switching transmission.

Adjust the distance from the underside of the coulter to the floor – with spindles (5/1): Whilst in operation ca. 38 – 40 cm, When turned off, add the working depth ‘t’ of the rotary harrow to this figure (see Fig. 5). 1 2 Connect the hydraulic hoses (guard cap colour): Disc markers (3 – 4.5 m) – single action control unit (red), Fold in AEROSEM 6000 – double action control unit – ensuring the correct connection: ”lift” / fold in (red) ”lower” / fold out (yellow), hydraulic lever for the disc markers on AEROSEM 300 – additional single action control unit (green). V belt drive In order to position and remove the V belts loosen the tensioner as far as it will go - with a spindle (7/1: before loosening the safety screws 7/2, then increase tension again). 4 Belt tension see Fig. 8: Test force ca. 25 N, deflection ca. 15 mm. Release tension after around 20 minutes on the first use. 1 3 Check belt tension daily. 7

Take special care of the following on the drive: The drive mechanism must be exactly aligned; bring fans into line if necessary – screws (7/3 and 7/4).

In the case of a fault with the belt, change both V belts – XPZ 8 belts; only use belts of the same length (L=L).

Always fasten the safety device: On the fan (4/3) and the belt guard (9/1) – assemble the attached 1 2 protective wedge (9/2) close to the belt pulley.

Pay special attention when using a hydraulic fan device!

NB: With link shafts with cogged releasing couplings, and a hard- 9 switching electro-hydraulic seed shaft coupling, we recommend the use of a centrifugal force coupling for the fan device in order to avoid excessive wear and tear of the V belts. (Additional equipment).

0500_GB-ANBAU_8541 - 11 - OPERATION GB

Operating Instructions

- Limit the horizontal play of the tractor’s lower link - Place the tractor’s upper link so that when in use it only lifts slightly; set the length so that the entrance shaft/seed shaft are in a horizontal position, - For operation, set the tractor hydraulics to ”floating position”: lifting hydraulics and row markers, - Ensure correct seed shaft RPM; Check tension of V belts - Only switch on seed shaft when engine is idling, - hydraulic or pneumatic switchable seed shaft with jerky running can contribute to faster wear on the V belts (use centrifugal coupling), - Turn off the seed shaft on the headland and raise the machine high enough, When moving off, even before operation, rev to at least, then maintain roughly the normal RPM (fan RPM ca. 3000 U/min on the AEROSEM 3000; 3500 U/min from the AEROSEM 400 up), - Running significantly below the normal RPM for the seed shaft (fan RPM) can lead to unequal distribution of seed or to blockages with high volumes of seed, - Be aware of commencing operation and starting seed dispersal – depending on speed ca. 1 – 2 m. The seed needs a certain amount of time to travel from the regulator to the sowing coulters. Therefore the machine should be lifted when stopped and moved back slightly to ensure correct dispersal, - Adjust the driving speed to suit the conditions to ensure that the seed is placed at a consistent depth. (Solo operation at approx. 12 km/h in favourable conditions). - Check settings – such as the calibration test (with the calibration lever down); setting of proportioning wheel – lock the coarse seed proportioning wheel when using fine seed, set gears, butterfly flap, bottom flap – if cracked grain appears, turn the bottom flap one notch higher than stated in the seed chart, - While beginning to sow – and then at regular intervals – ensure that all coulters are sowing, no clogging. Seeds should be visible under every coulter when the machine is stopped and lifted slightly. - No liability is accepted for deviations in seed rate or damages resulting from blocking. - Sowing rollers should not be allowed to go slack – move them away from slopes, - The distance between the bottom of the coulter discs and the ground should be between 38 and 40 cm - Give the drive wheel sufficient - spring tension, - On the edge of the field ensure that the drive wheel has enough ground contact, that it maintains a distance from furrows or that it starts in the opposite direction – Ensure that the row marker settings and the tramline rhythm, including sowing roller stop, are correct, - Electronic tramline switching check the rhythm and whether the ‘turn flaps’ are switching correctly - Check the contents with the level indicator - With dressed rape seed use a maximum of 10 kg of seed; fill with less seed if using seeds with a lot of husk or when beans are being sown at double or more row spacing, - When filling, ensure that no foreign materials (bits of paper, sack tags0 enter the hopper - Fold away the lower step of the loading platform - Close the hopper lid - Given the hygroscopic nature of the seed (including dressing), always empty the hopper when not in use for long periods. Remember that seed dressings are irritants and may be toxic!

0000-GB Einsatz_8541 - 12 - OPERATION GB

Loading Platform 1 2 When in operation fold up the lower levels (43/1). In order to ‘calibrate’, ‘fold in’ the right platform part (43/2) Never allow anyone to climb onto or ride on the machine (or loading platform)! Keep tread steps clean! Set the machine down before filling and turn off the engine! When filling the machine remember that dressings are irritants and sometimes toxic! Protect yourself accordingly!

43

Loading Bridge For filling of sacks from the trailer. Attach the loading bridge to the ”AEROSEM” Ensure safe conditions! When filling is completed leave the loading bridge on the trailer.

44

Emptying the Residue Lower the combination machine. 60 Place the receptacle under the hoppered bottom. Open the emptying slide (60/1). After ‘emptying’ turn the calibration flap to ‘calibrate’ and turn the bottom flap to ‘6’; turn all the proportioning slightly with the 1 2 star handle (60/2). In order to dispense with all the remaining seed residue, leave the fan to blow for a short while (so that no rodents are attracted).

Dismantling / Parking The assembled drill machine ”AEROSEM” should be parked on supports in a dismantled state – with an empty hopper. Place all supports (16/1) (set the support length/at the front so that when the machine is parked the three-point coupling leans slightly forward). Release all tension from belt drives (see page 7) and remove the V belts. Remove the hydraulic and electric connections. Remove the locking system (61/2). Lower the soil finishing tool. Park the ”AEROSEM” (cleaned, with the coulters and disc markers protected from corrosion) in a dry place; and ensure a steady base! Store the electronic boxes in an ‘extra dry’ place. 2 1 61

0000-GB Einsatz_8541 - 13 - OPERATION GB

Dust Guard Device (Fig. 55) This sucks the fan-inlet air back up and generates a small pressure surge in the hopper. The filling lid should therefore be closed during operation.

55

Hectare meter (only when no Multitronic is available) The counter begins to turn as soon as the drive wheel starts to move. Values are given in a and ha. Use the lever (66/1) to set to ‘0’.

56 1

Centrifugal Coupling A jerky seed shaft turn or a halt during operation will lead to significant wear on the V belts or damage to the V belts and fans; therefore use the centrifugal coupling: a) always with link shafts with a breaking coupling (cogged releasing coupling), b) preferably on tractors with electro-hydraulic switching seed shafts.

The centrifugal force coupling – including the V belt disc is / should be mounted on the fan shaft (can also be mounted at a later date, when e.g. operating conditions such as a / b arise).

The cut-in speed of the coupling is set at ca. 600 U/min. After a long downtime of the ”AEROSEM” the coupling should be briefly run at a cut-in speed of between 500 and 600 U/min (to ‘clean’ it).

0000-GB Einsatz_8541 - 14 - REGUALTING SYSTEM GB

Setting Seed Rates 2 3 1 One coarse (10/3) and two fine proportioning wheels 10/1( + 2) with three settings and RPM adjustor vary the sowing rate. (Additional equipment for peas available on request).

Power is taken from a drive wheel that runs on the working area – set the ground pressure of the drive wheel on the turnbuckle (11/1). 10 Possible settings (given in seed chart): 1. Proportioning wheel setting 2. Gear setting – along a scale 3. Bottom flap 4. Butterfly flap 5. Calibration flap (only change when calibrating) 6. Agitator shaft (remove agitator for rape)

1 Proportioning wheel setting with the help of the star handle (12/1) shift the shaft - by gently 11 turning – and lock into place with the connector (12/2). (When changing setting, set bottom flap to ‘1’). Setting 1 – fine seed proportioning wheel (10/1) 2 3 6 Setting II - fine seed proportioning wheel (10/1 + 2) Setting III – coarse seed proportioning wheel (10/3) In setting I and II (fine seed) the coarse seed proportioning wheel has to be locked into place – with the lever (14/6, 12/6). Lever engaged back 14/a - coarse seed proportioning wheel locked, 5 Lever engaged forward 14/b – for proportioning wheel setting 4 III. If (in proportioning wheel settings I and II) the lever (14/6) will not 1 go into the locking position (14/a), shake the coarse seed propor- l ll lll tioning wheel slightly (open the emptying slide for this).

12 Gear setting the oil-bath transmission is continuously adjustable on a scale a b 1 from 0 – 100 (0 = sowing shaft at a standstill). If a gear setting of less than 15 is necessary in proportioning wheel setting III (coarse seed feeder), the proportioning wheel setting should be changed to II (fine proportioning wheel setting 6 1 + 2) and then continue with the calibration test in a corres- pondingly higher gear setting. Secure the setting lever (13/1) with the star handle. (Hydraulic seed rate setting; see page 12) 13 14

2 3 6 Bottom flap adjust with setting lever according to seed chart; 1 – 6. Under the proportioning wheels the bottom flap forms the edge of the batching housing; it is padded and can become displaced. (When changing the setting of the proportioning wheels always set the bottom flap to ‘1’). 5 If broken grain is discovered during calibration, 4 set the bottom flapone notch higher than stated in the seed chart. 1 l ll lll Calibration Flap only lift the lever (12/5) to the upper setting during calibration 12 – to (12/5). Working setting: lever ‘down’.

Butterfly flap up (for normal seed: Fig. 16) and down setting (for fine seed; Fig. 17). The butterfly flap regulates the volume of air for the transport of the seed. (With a hydraulic fan device the butterfly flap should always be ‘open’’; see Hydraulic Fan Device). 16 17

Agitator Shaft 1 the agitator shaft ensures consistent seed flow. Adjust the external agitator plugs with the coulter clamp so they are pointing inwards. For rape seed remove the agitator plugs (18/1) from the agi- tator shaft; also for peas that ”flow well”, sometimes beans as well. 18 Cleaning springs: the cleaning springs (18/2) ensure that the fine seed proportioning wheels remain free of deposits e.g. dressings. They are replaceable and should be renewed as soon as they become worn.

0600-GB Saatmengenverstellung_8541 - 20 - Coulter Pressure GB

Coulter Pressure The coulter pressure– and thus the seed depth – is continuously adjustable; as (50/1, with hand crank) Individual coulters – e.g. in the tractor tracks – may be adjusted to 1 work at a higher pressure by changing the connection point of the spring (29/2). With similar ground conditions the sowing depth changes with speed – faster/shallower or slower/deeper. Therefore when checking the sowing depth ensure that travel along the “control area“ is at “normal” speed.

2

29 Hydraulic coulter pressure adjustment A single action hydraulic control is necessary for operation. Through it the coulter pressure can be changed when travelling on heavy varying ground. 1 The required “normal” or “maximum” pressure is selected by inserting the stop pin (30/1) in the hole guide.

Shoe Coulter (Fig. 61) – Normal 0 61 For shallow seed placement, adjustable depth limiters may be attached to the shoe coulters at any time (61/4).

Broad-Shoe Coulter (Fig. 62) – Approx. 8,5 cm wide For wide, yield-increasing seed spread; suitable for clean soils with fine tilth. Shoe and broad-shoe coulters have a clogging-protection support; fold forwards elastically to avoid bending while lowering. 62

Single-Disc Coulter (Fig. 63) Ideal for crop residue with long stalks. The rotating scraper (63/1) cleans sticky soil off the inner side of the clearing disc (63/2). The curved outer side cleans itself. The rubber skirt (63/3) prevents the seed from jumping out of the furrow. The pressure of the rotating scraper may be adjusted by screwing the threaded (63/4) in or out. Secure the threaded axle with 63 lock nut. Ensure that the PVC disc of the rotating scraper does not connect in front, as this would produce a braking effect on the clearing disc.

0400-GB SCHARWECHSELSYSTEM_8521 - 22 - Row Markers GB

Disc markers Disc markers can be set to centre of tractor or to tractor track. Setting: - Move the marker extension arm to the working position - Set disc contact point accordingly

The length varies (A) according to the: - working width (B) and - row spacing (R) of the drill machine - the tractor track width (S) when marking rows: (Fig. 23).

Set at centre of tractor:

a) from coulter blades = half working width = A

b) from outside coulter = working width + row spacing = A1 2

Set on tractor track, from outside coulter:

working width + row distance – tractor track width = A2 2

Example: 3 m working width (B = 300 cm) 23 10 cm row spacing (R = 10 cm) 170 cm tractor track width (S = 170 cm) A = B = 300 = 150 cm (of tractor centre, from coulter blades) 2 2 A1 = B + R = 300 + 10 = 155 cm 2 2 A2 = B + R – S = 300 + 10 – 170 = 70 cm 2 2

The disc markers are operated with the tractor control unit: … at the end of a row set to ”up” – both disc markers are lifted, … at the start of a row set to ”lower”

1 - during operation, the control unit must always be set to ”floating position”! 2 (with an AEROSEM 6000 control unit, ”floating position” can be se- lected during lowering.

AEROSEM 300: single action control unit Automatic switching regulates switching (basic setting of automatic switching, see Maintenance). The cable (24/1) should have a little slack during operation to allow the row marking disc to adjust to the soil while still catching it when rolling through a deeper furrow and thus protecting it from overload. Adjust the cable length accordingly – at (24/2).

Multitronic II Sowing Monitor Switching and metering impulse for the electronic tramline switching occurs via a hydraulic shuttle valve when the disc marker is in the final lifted/folded position.

If the obstacles make the disc markers fold in during operation, an unwanted metering impulse can be avoided by keeping the disc marker vertical but not putting it into its final position. If the disc marker is completely folded in without producing an unwanted metering impulse, the tramline switching can be switched to ”OFF” by pressing the tramline button twice (see Introduction for Multitronic in Appendix A).

4 The required depth of the disc markers can be set with the cylinders (25/1) 2 by the lock screws (25/2). Lower the boom for this purpose.

1 Do not screw the lock screws (25/2) too far in so that when they are folded in the boom is not already on it before the cylinder is completely ready. 3

Load Limiting Device: when operating the load limiting device use new shearing screws: - M 8 x 40 DIN 931 8.8 (25/4)

By twisting the rotary shaft (24/3) the disc can be set for more or less grip according to how hard the ground is. For transport, fold in and secure the disc markers (25/3).

0700_GB-Perfektstriegel_8537 - 26 - Tramlines GB

Examples of Tramlines At the edge of the field (row marker lowered on field-side) set the tramlining cycle to the correct starting number – e.g. for rhythms 3 and 4 set to 2. 2 Sensors handle the automatic switching, e.g. when changing row markers.

For symmetrical tramline rhythms with even numbers start at the edge of the field with half drill working width; select or change to the corresponding turns: 1 Set higher flap lever down/forward 47/1( ). If the fertiliser spreader is equipped with a spread limiter, begin at the edge of the field with full drill working widthand tramline. Up to three sowing rollers may be switched off per wheel track during tramline switching. The seed for the tramline will be supplied to the tank by the turns in the distributor head. The consistency of distribution will not change. The machine will turn off when the magnetic switch is supplied with power; this ensures that operation may continue for the full number of rows in the case of a power failure (flaps in the distributor head turns may then be closed if necessary). 47 Adjusting to the width of the tramlines is very straightforward, just alter the lower sowing roller hoses.

For asymmetrical tramlining, switching occurs only on one single-sided wheel track during each of two passes in opposite directions. Depending on the turn direction chosen, the unnee- ded magnet on the outer side of the turn must be deactivated by uncoupling. (Note: The unit is supplied with both magnet couplings connected. For this reason the magnets must be checked after selecting the tramlining rhythm and drive direction!)

If no tramlines are to be made but the electronic monitor is to remain active, select rhythm „0“. (Adjusting the tramlining rhythm: see appendix A, section 5.1.1) Current operation data is stored so that operation may continue in a the correct rhythm after e.g. an interruption. b

2-way turns: at the tramline turns the upper flap lever must be manoeuvrable between the impact hooks (48/a, b). The lower flap lever is linked to the magnet (48/2) by a screw (M 5 x 60) (48/1) that contains a reset spring; Set the ‘screw length’ so that on connected tramlines the flap is up on the outer side of the turn. On normal turns (without tramlines) the upper flap lever should be in the up/back position (47/2). 1 A maximum of 3 flaps can be moved with the propulsion magnet. 2

Fan Monitoring The fan monitor also gives a signal if the fan’s RPM fall too low or get too high during operation. Despite this additional warning, care should still be taken that the fan – during operation – runs with high RPM; the normal RPM for the seed shaft (ca. 1,000 U/min) should be maintained.

With higher disc markers (on the headland), monitoring of the fan and regulator are interrupted – no alarm.

Different fan RPMs are used for coarse grain (normal) and fine grain in a hydraulic fan device; for the correct warnings set the seed monitor as follows: (see Appendix A, Pkt. 5.1.7)

Machine typ Drive Batching Rev count 3000 V-belts Coarse seed 000 Fine seed 000 Hydraulic motor Coarse seed 000 Fine seed 2300 4000-6000 V-belts Coarse seed 500 Fine seed 500 Hydraulic motor Coarse seed 500 Fine seed 2300

The inductive sensors are placed at a distance of 1 – 3 mm (Fig. 52); the following guidelines apply when placing the fan sensors; Turn the fan shaft so that the groove points upwards. Turn the sensor by hand as far as the fan shaft, then turn it back 3.5 turns and secure it with a lock screw.

52 There is a function control (light diodes) in the sensors so that with a correction setting or test switching, the ‘functioning’ can be seen.

General Transport Instructions

Bring machines into transport position; ensure suitability for transport. Before driving on public roads, disconnect the „MULTI tronic“ from the power supply (remove plug from tractor socket). Riding on the machine or standing in the danger area is not permitted. Adjust the transport speed to suit the road conditions. Caution on bends: hitched implements swing outwards! Any applicable road safety regulations must be observed. The operator is responsible for the safe coupling of the tractor and machine when driving on public roads. Machinery must not compromise the safe driving of the tractor. Permissible axle-loads, total weight, and tyre load capacity (depending on speed and air pressure) must be adhered to. For safe steering, the load on the front axle must be at least 20 % of the dead weight of the vehicle.

The highest permissible transport width is 3m. Special authorisation must be obtained for exceptionally wide equipment. Ensure that protruding parts at the outline of the machine do not pose a danger to traffic. If this cannot be avoided, these parts must be covered and clearly marked. The outline and back of the machine must also be made clearly visible – e.g. use red/white striped warning signs 423 x 423 mm. Light fixtures are necessary if hitched machinery obstructs the tractor lights or when required by the weather conditions. Also mount lights at the front and back when the hitched machine extends more than 40 cm over the tractor lights, or at the back, if the distance between the tractor tail-lights and the machine is greater than 1 metre. Required warning signs and light fixtures should be bought from the respective dealers.

When transporting on long transporters the correct warning signs must be shown, red retroreflectors on the back, yellow retroreflectors on the side and lights should always be on – even during the day.

Transport Position

1 Secure the tractor’s lower link in a lateral position. Close the filling lid. Fold in the disc markers and lock into place. Fold up the drive wheel (disc markers must have already been folded in). Secure folded tramline demarcation. Fasten the tine protector at the perfect ‘ 3m’ tine! (Protection = additional equipment) Fasten the lighting device and warning unit (according to StVZO). Drill machines more than 3m wide should be transported on PÖTTINGER long transporters. Raise the tines up to it – remove upper tine coverers (59/1) as in (59/2) and secure folded tines with connectors, as in (59/2).

If working on a raised drill is necessary, use additional safety supports to prevent unintentional lowering! De-pressurize the hydraulic system before commencing any work! Ensure proper disposal of oil! (Hydraulics oil is mineral based).

Retighten all screws after initial operation (approx. 8 hrs), then check at regular intervals.

After approx every 50 hours of running time grease the bearings of the row markers and the tramline markers. 1 - check the oil level in the transmission - oil stick (63/1), do not turn it to check it. - Permanent fill - filling amount 2.5 l; - If oil needs to be refilled use : Hydraulic Oil HLP 32.

63 - Check V belts, belt tension and alignment; relax the V belts if the machine is to be parked for a long time in its dismantled form. Faulty V belts should always be changed in pairs; use belts of the same length (L = L) use XPZ belts. 2 Retighten the chain drives: - remove the bearings as in (64/1 + 2), - tighten by hand - replace screws

- Maintain the movement of spindles. Retouch damage to paintwork.

- Keep the discs clean in disc coulters and check the scrapers. 1 - Check hydraulic hoses regularly and replace them if they are 64 damaged or brittle (Replacement Parts List). Hoses deteriorate naturally with age, and they should not be used for more than 5 or 6 years.

- When cleaning with water (especially high pressure), do not aim directly at bearings. - Clean away dirt on the electronic keyboard with a damp cloth and mild household detergent (do not use solvent); do not immerse casing in liquid!

Disconnect the electronics if - carrying out welding work on the tractor or attached equipment - charging the tractor battery connecting a second battery (jump starting)

5.3 Calibration assistance

Calibration assistance is a system utility for the seed calibration test. This function computes the number of crank rotations, showing them on the display, and also counts the number of crank rotations during the calibration test. Press the F key and use arrow keys A or V to select calibration assistance. Press the F key again to activate the function. The following choice of surface areas for calibration will now be displayed: 1/10 ha display <10> 1/20 ha display <20> 1/40 ha display <40> 1/100 ha display <100>

Use arrow keys A or V to select the size of surface area to be calibrated and confirm the selection by a short press on the F key. The seed drill monitor will now compute the number of crank rotations and display the figure. During this operation, values greater than 100 revolutions are displayed as whole figures. Values under 100 revolutions are shown exactly to the nearest half-turn. The calibration test can now start. The seed drill monitor will now count the number of hand crank rotations, starting from the displayed value and running in reverse, thus providing a constant display of the crank turns that remain to be carried out. The final five turns of the crank are accompanied by an additional acoustic signal, in order to warn the operator of the impending end of the calibration procedure. Once the value reaches zero <0> a constant acoustic signal is activated to warn the operator to stop calibration immediately. If calibration does continue, the display will show the corresponding negative value and the constant acoustic signal will continue to be heard until no more impulses are being detected at the hectare meter. To repeat the calibration test: press the F key, the calibration test will restart from the beginning. To stop the calibration test, press any one of the four green display pushbuttons to leave this menu.

7 Alarm functions / messages Seed hopper level, fan unit turning speed and sowing shaft revolutions can be monitored, on condition that the seed drill unit is fitted with the corresponding activated monitoring device. (See sections 5.1.4 and 5.1.5 for information on activating hopper level and sowing shaft monitoring. For fan unit monitoring, see sect. 5.1.7). The monitoring systems are only active when the seed drill unit is in operating position (with lowered seed drill unit and/or marker arms). The monitoring systems are not active when the seed drill unit is in transport position (with raised seed drill unit and/or marker arms).

7.1 Sowing shaft alarm Sowing shafts/Turning flaps monitoring check the sowing shaft revolutions and turning flap position. (See pt. 5.1.4 for monitoring activation). Sensors on the turning flaps and sowing shaft are connected in series. Firstly, the position of the turning flap lever is checked through the sensor on the turning flaps. Sowing shaft revolutions are checked by a second sensor together with a transmitter on the sowing shaft. Through this transmitter switching impulses are sent to the sensor and with that to the sowing monitor. - If turning flap is open (lever up), or - turning flap is closed (lever down) but sowing shaft is stationery, no impulses are sent to the sowing monitor. If 10 seconds passes without an impulse being received (with the unit in operating mode), visual and acoustic alarm signals are activated. Acoustic alarm = intermittent sound Visual alarm = The alarm can be stopped by pressing one of the green display keys, but will nevertheless be reactivated if the marker arms are operated or the machine is raised. In the event of a fault occurring that cannot be dealt with immediately (e.g. a faulty sensor), it is possible to disable the monitoring system completely as a temporary measure, until the fault can be rectified. (Please refer to sect. 5.1.4 for details on how to disable sowing shaft monitoring).

7.2 hopper level alarm The hopper level monitoring system controls the amount of seed in the hopper. (Refer to sect. 5.1.5 for details of how to activate hopper level monitoring). The level display receives a sensor signal when the quantity drops to a certain level, activating an acoustic and visual alarm signal. 5.1.5 for details on how to disable hopper level monitoring).

- M6 - 0800-GB Multitronic_8541 MUlTiTronic "aeroseM, TerraseM" gB

7.3 Fan unit alarm The fan unit monitoring systems controls the turning speed of the fan unit. (Please refer to sect. 5.1.7 for details on how to activate fan unit monitoring). A sensor receives impulses from the fan unit shaft at a rate of one impulse for each turn of the shaft. The seed drill monitor uses this data to calculate fan unit turning velocity in rpm, and compared this value to the preset target speed. An acoustic and visual alarm is activated whenever the detected speed deviates by more than 500 rpm either way from the preset value. Acoustic alarm = intermittent sound Visual alarm: The alarm and the current fan speed, e.g. <1700>, are displayed alternately.

The alarm can be stopped by pressing one of the green display keys, but will nevertheless be reactivated if the marker arms are operated or the machine is raised. In the event of a fault occurring that cannot be dealt with immediately (e.g. a faulty sensor), it is possible to disable the monitoring system completely as a temporary measure, until the fault can be rectified. (Please refer to sect. 5.1.7 for details on how to disable fan unit monitoring). Exceeding a fan speed of 4500 r.p.m. will trigger a continuous fan alarm and the controls can no longer be operated. This is a safety function. Only when the fan speed falls below 4500 r.p.m. can the controls be operated normally.

Combination of tractor and mounted implement The mounting of implements on the front or rear three point linkage shall not result in exceeding the maximum permissible weight, the permissible axle loads and the tyre load carrying capacities ot the tractor. The front axle of the tractor must always to be loaded with at least 20 % of the unladen weight of the tractor. Make sure before buying an implement that these conditions are fulfilled by carrying out the following calculations or by weighing the tractor/implement combination.

Determination of the total weight, the axle loads, the tyre load carrying capacity and the necessary minimum ballasting

For the calculation you need the following data: unladen weight of tractor 1 a [m] distance from centre of gravity for 2 3 TL [kg] combined front mounted implement/front front axle load of unladen tractor ballast to front axle centre TV [kg] 1
