De conflicten tussen de stad Kampen en de Gelderse Heren van Putten door Os. J. W. SCHAAP en Drs. C. N. FEHRMANN. Hoewel het aanvankelijk de bedoeling was, dat Ds. Schaap aileen de bijbehorende genealogieen. van de geslachten Van Putten en de Veluwse tak De Vos van Steenwijk zou samenstellen, bleek het onderwerp beide schrijvers zo te boeien, dat tot een gemeen• schappelijk geschreven artikel besloten werd. Het conflict tussen. de stad Kampen en de heren van Putten. (einde 14 eeuw) is hoofdzakelijk van de hand van de laatstgenoemde auteur, ter• wijl Ds. Schaap het tweede conflict tussen. Kampen en de Ve• liuose tak der Vossen van Steenwijk (einde 15de eeuui) vooma• melijk voor zijn rekening nam, De eindredactie werd door Drs. Fehrmann verzorgd. In uitgebreidere vorm zal dit artil~el waarschijnlijk in de Ver• slagen en Mededeelingen van de Vereeniging tot Beoeiening van Overijsselsch Regt en Geschiedenis uerschijnen. "Heren van kleine heerlijkheden dienen inschikkelijkheid te tonen", bespieqelde eens een Kuilenburgse kroniekschrijver, toen hij terugblikte op de door hem beschreven ondergang van het geslacht Van Arkel. Een derqelijke bespieqelirrq zou men ook kunnen houden over het lot, dat de bezitters der kleine heerlijkheden heeft ge~ troffen die in de onmiddellijke nabijheid van Kampen hebben gelegen. De heren van Zalk en Veekaten, wier kasteel een tiental km. stroomopwaarts van de Ijssel bij Kampen lag, hebben over het alqemeen gehandeld naar de verstandige woorden van onze kroniekschrijver. Een enkele uitzondering daargelaten, hebben zij er steeds naar gestredd op goede voet te blijven met hun landsheer, de Utrechtse bisschop, en hun nabuursteden, Kam• pen en Zwolle. -

Hoogtebeelden rond Nijkerk en Putten Een nieuwe kijk op het landschap Peter Bijvank In maart van 2014 kwam het Actueel Hoogtebestand Nederland 2 (AHN2) beschikbaar via internet. Een breed publiek heeft daarmee toegang gekregen tot een zeer gedetailleerd hoogtebestand van Nederland dat voor allerlei doeleinden gebruikt kan worden, waaronder landschapsonderzoek. Het AHN2 bestaat uit opnamen van het aardoppervlak die vanuit een vliegtuig met behulp van lasertechniek zijn gemaakt. Door deze techniek is het mogelijk tot op centimeters nauwkeurig de hoogte van het maaiveld in beeld te brengen. De hoogtekaarten geven een geheel nieuwe kijk op onze omgeving en laten details van het reliëf zien die van grote waarde zijn voor de bestudering van het landschap. In dit artikel een greep uit enkele beelden rond Nijkerk en Putten. Figuur 1: Overzicht van de Gelderse Vallei met links de Utrechtse heuvelrug en rechts het Veluwemassief. oogtekaarten zijn al veel langer beschikbaar als instrument voor o.a. (historisch)geograven. Het voorkomen van natuurlijke hoogteverschillen als H dekzandruggen, smeltwatergeulen, stuwwallen, etc. zijn van groot belang geweest voor de ontginning en bewoning van gebieden. Een gedetailleerd, inzichtelijk beeld van het reliëf van het landschap is daarom van groot belang bij landschapsonderzoek. Zeker wanneer dit beeld details laat zien van enkele centimeters in hoogteverschil waardoor ook antropogene invloeden als greppels, houtwallen, raatakkers, verhoogde akkers, etc. zichtbaar worden. Hoogtepuntenkaarten, geomorfologische kaarten of kaarten met isohypsen (hoogtelijnen) Peter Bijvank mei 2014 1 waren tot voor kort de enige bronnen om inzicht te krijgen in het reliëf van het landschap. Het detailniveau van deze kaarten is veelal te gering om een volledige vertaling naar de omgeving te kunnen maken. -

Combining elements of ethnic pride, nostalgia, sentimentality, cultural memory, religous values, political positions, economic motive, and the spirit of celebration, these festivals are well-organized performances that promote a community’s special identity and heritage. At the same time, these festivals usually reach out to the larger community in an attempt to place the ethnic community within the American fabric. These festivals have a complex history tied to the “melting pot” history of America. Since the twentieth century many communities and ethnic groups have struggled to hold onto or reclaim a past that gradually slips away. Ethnic heritage festivals are one prevalent way to maintain this receding past. And yet such ii festivals can serve radically different aims, socially and politically. In this dissertation I will investigate how these festivals are presented and why they are significant for both participants and spectators. I wish to determine what such festivals do and mean. I will examine five Dutch American festivals, three of which are among the oldest ethnic heritage festivals in the United States. -

PROGRAMME FOR EXCURSION NR. 2 Excursion to the National Park Hoge Veluwe National Park Hoge Veluwe is a relict from glaciers that covered the Netherlands during Saalien (2 104 – 1.2 104 years ago). It is a large complex of ice-pushed ridges with an elevation up to 110 m+NAP. Excess rainwater can infiltrate in the sandy soil and feeds the underlying aquifer. This groundwater rises to the surface in springs and brooks in the surrounding area. In this excursion the geology and related water management of the region will be shown. The excursion will start on top of an ice-pushed ridge with an overview to the adjacent river landscape. Then we will visit an old mill-brook, which is fed by Veluwe water, and some of the upper branches of this brook (manmade springs). This field trip is followed by a visit in the afternoon to the National Park Hoge Veluwe and the Kröller Muller Museum which hosts many famous paintings of Dutch masters such as Van Gogh. De Hoge Veluwe National Park is the largest actively managed conservation area in private hands in the Netherlands. The Park covers 5,400 hectares of woodland, heathland, peat bogs and drift sand. It enjoys a wide variety of plants and animals and provides habitats to extremely rare Red List species. You have the possibility to bicycle on free bikes or walk in the park by yourself or enjoy a visit to the Kröller-Müller museum on your own. This trip will leave by bus at the Hof van Wageningen on 08.30 hrs and return around 17.30 hours. -

The aim of this article is to provide a historical analysis of the rivalry between two football clubs, Vitesse Arnhem and NEC Nijmegen, explicating their various ‘axes of enmity’. Supporters, club officials and observers of these two clubs created and selectively maintained similarities between respective city image and club image. The process of ‘othering’ influenced both city and club images and helped create oppositional identities. Herein, football identification reflects broader societal needs for a place-based identity, and for a coherent image of both self and other. Introduction The history of sport has proved a fruitful field for research into processes of identification. According to Jeff Hill, the texts and practices of sports represent ‘structured habits of thought and behaviour which contribute to our ways of seeing ourselves and others’.1 Sports rivalries in particular have received attention from sociologists and historians, as they allow investigations into community bonding and the process of ‘othering’. -
