Community & Business Guide On behalf of Council and our citizens, I am pleased to welcome you to our area and invite you to spend time exploring our community! 2020 Fraser Lake is smack dab in the middle of BC, 1.5 hours west of Prince George located in Regional District of the Bulkley-Nechako. We have
around 1026 people that live in the community of Fraser Lake. Our neighbors and friends in the outlying areas of Endako, Fort Fraser, Francois Lake, Nadleh and Stellaquo add an estimated 2000 people that utilize the
businesses, services and schools within the municipal boundaries of Fraser Lake.

From its humble beginnings in the early 1900’s, the development of Recreation Department the Grand Trunk Railway now know as CN put Fraser Lake on the map. Fort Fraser Red Rock—Tselkin Located 19km east of Fraser Lake on Highway 16, Fort Fraser is one of The trail head is located in Stellaquo. Stellat’en First Nation Stellaquo is located 4km west of Fraser Lake on Highway 16. Stellat’en (people of Stella) has existed since time immemorial. The fertile land between Fraser Lake and Vanderhoof is the basin of glacial Lake. Stellaquo is located at the confluence between two rivers: the Stellaquo and Endako. Stellat’en First Nation has 506 registered mem- bers. There are approximately an equal number of members on and off reserve.

Kenny Dam & Cheslatta Falls Nechako River - Ne cha koh Kenny Dam was built in the early 1950’s, by Alcan, at which time it was The Nechako River is one of the major tributaries of the Fraser River the largest rock filled dam in the world. Pictographs The north side of Fraser Lake hosts several First Nations pictographs. There are three sets within a 1000 yard area on the north side of the lake. The paintings are on granite rock—the first set facing west, and the next two facing south. The final set is easily visible from the lake Nautley River - Nadleh Koh and is about 15 feet above low water level. One of the shortest rivers in the world, running out of Fraser Lake and into the Nechako River, all within a distance of 0.8 km (half a mile). On the bridge in August, one can see Sockeye Salmon and a few Spring Salmon coming up the river into Fraser Lake and on up to the Stellako River and beyond. There salmon are often in very large schools and the river seems to be solid fish at times. Also from the bridge, you can see the Trumpeter Swans - to the east at the mouth of the river. These swans have been wintering here for many years and they are a beautiful sight to see.
