Celebrating Tu B’Shvat – Sunday, January 20: Observe our Jewish “New Years for Trees!” On the 15th of Shevat, underground roots stir in , with almond blossoms bursting along the Judean Hills emerging after winter hibernation. This annual botanical phenomenon is marked as the proverbial “New Year for Trees. Torah-true tradition ordains that we observe this unique day on the Jewish calendar not by planting trees, but rather by eating fruits - especially those mentioned in praise of the Holy Land: grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives & dates. We reflect on what we can learn from these “trees of the field” and their fruits. 5:45 pm – A Farbrengenette: “Fruit n’ Wine” Following Ma’ariv; as per tradition, together we’ll enjoy a selection of dried fruits and toast L’chaim on wines from Eretz Yisrael. Rabbi Kaplan will share words of Tu B’Shvat Torah insights and Yiddishkeit inspiration! 7:30 pm – Teen Program: “Torah for Tyler” On this auspicious day, Rabbi Avrumi and the teens will together launch a new bi-monthly Torah study session for young people to honour the memory and elevate the living soul of our recently departed friend, Tyler Swartz. RECIPES FOR RECIPES FOR LIFE Tuesday 01.22.2019 Our annual Tribute to Jewish Women honours the Yahrtzeit-Hilula of Rebbetzin .
