Besides several recreational amenities, two civil war redoubts exist on the site. 2 DANDY - The ancestral home of the Goodwin Family, Dandy comprises an area of about 400 acres. The land was sold in 1668 to James Goodwin, son of London salt merchant Peter Goodwin and speaker of the House of Burgesses from Jamestown. British and Confederate troops built earth redoubts CAMP PEARY on this land. The federal government has owned the property since 1917 and was formerly the site of a Navy Mine Warfare School before becoming Coast Guard property ! When you exit the (NO TRESPASSING) interstate, stay on Boulevard. At the intersection of Fort Eustis Boulevard and Memorial Hwy, G "17" take a left. Follow Rt 17 North and turn right on Battle Rd. At the stop sign, turn right onto Old York Hampton Highway. Bare left onto Hornsbyville Rd. Turn left onto Old Wormerly Creek Rd. NOTE: The boat landing is at the end of the road. When you exit the interstate, cross Rt 17 and Rt 134 and stay on Victory Boulevard until you reach Big Bethel Rd. Turn left. At Tabb High School, bare left onto Yorktown Rd. Take the immediate right onto Tide Mill Rd. The boat landing is at the Riverwalk Landing Old Wormley Creek Landing end of Tide Mill Rd. Riverwalk Back Creek Park R "2" From I-64: take exit 250-B towards Yorktown. When you exit the To Victory G "19" interstate, stay on Fort Eustis Boulevard. At the intersection of Center Transient Commercial Fort Eustis Boulevard and George Washington Memorial Hwy, Pier Pier 9 take a right. Follow Rt 17 South until you reach the second stop light. Make a left onto Goodwin Neck Rd. Follow this road for Shops 3.5 miles. Back Creek Park will be on your right. R "20" New Quarter Park From I-64: take exit 242-A (Rt 199 West/Jamestown Exit). Take R "22" the Rt 143 Exit off of Rt 199 (the fi rst exit), turn right onto Rt 143 Swimming and follow it until you come to the fi rst stop light. Turn right onto Beaches Penniman Rd. (Magruder Elementary School is on the left) and take the fi rst left turn onto Hubbard Lane for approximately one To Yorktown Battlefi eld U.S. COAST GUARD mile. After the overpass, make an immediate right hand turn onto TRAINING CENTER Lakeshead Dr. and follow this until you reach the park entrance. 7
