(http://www.nj.com/vineland) — A new sports complex is planned for the city, which the mayor promises will bring jobs and give the community something to be proud of.

Developers will officially announce their proposal for the Magic Sports Complex on Thursday at Vineland City Hall.

If it is officially approved, the complex will create a new outlet for jobs in Vineland and the South Jersey regions.

“When this is completed, even the initial phase, it’s going to employ hundreds of people,” said Mayor Robert Romano.

The developers have recently executed a 288.6-acre land purchase agreement in Vineland. Top Hurricane Sandy Photos The project has been in the works for two years, according to the mayor, but it was only recently that the funding and the properties have been certified.

“It’ll be spectacular for Vineland, just the ratables and job creation alone,” Romano said.

The mayor also explained that having a place for the youth to congregate in one central location and stay out of trouble is a benefit to Vineland as well.
