All the dogs had been given to the Force and three out of the four proud "parents" were there to see their dogs pass out. And very well they did too. Overcoming the excitement of meeting their former owners, who ' were greeted with tail wagging and bounding about, they went through their paces almost faultlessly, tracking, finding lost objects and seizing suspects by the arm in copybook fashion. Despite a damp day the Dog Section ran the ceremony off with their usual efficiency. Families and local residents also attended. Qualifying at the end of a three months course under the instruction of Constable Laurie McKenna the four new dogs will reinforce Sandon, Orsett and Harlow.

IN THE new Grays control room The Law found the duty Sergeant and two men wrestling with the intricacies of the switchboard. Although the Station was not open the board was being manned. The new room is spacious and quiet. There is the air of hush found in a cathedral - though not the language, alas, as they couldn't work the switchboard. Contrast this with the old control room all of which is pictured above. But it was cosy with its inevitable tray of mugs, and a view out of the window up the High Street. In the next issue of The Law the new Divisional Headquarters will be llly exdored.
