Some survivors of the 1974/75 year class Northumberland sea trout which had been used as brood stock were released in the River Calder (188 fish) and the River Crake (100 fish). These fish ranged from %lb to 41b in weight.
During the year, several consignments of salmon parr totalling 18,950 fish were transferred to the cage-rearing unit at Dalton-in- Furness. 2 Middleton Hatchery

Note 42,600 ova from Ribble and Hodder sea trout were taken to Middleton Hatchery for incubation. 15,000 of the salmon ova were exchanged at the eyed stage for 40,000 sea trout ova from the Yorkshire Water Authority. These sea trout ova were taken to Middleton for further development.
2.2.3.2- Salmon and Sea Trout Stocking ex Langcliffe - 1979
Because of the mortality problems with fry experienced at Langcliffe in previous years, the survivors of the 38,000 salmon ova laid down during the Autumn of 1978 were transferred to Middleton Hatchery as soon as they reached the eyed stage. The resulting fry, together with those produced from Ribble/Hodder salmon and sea trout ova taken to Middleton immediately after stripping, were planted in Ribble and Hodder feeder streams during June 1979. (see Table 2.2.2.2.)
4 Cage-rearing Unit, Dalton-in-Furness
The cages were stocked with salmon parr from Holmwrangle Hatchery as follows:-
June: 2952 10cm parr
October: 500 10cm parr
November 15500 7cm parr
5175 smolts were released to the River Leven after freeze-branding (1713 in May, 3462 in September).
