From the President, Father James Manning

Alter I t is hard to believe that the month of August is upon us. Where did the summer go? Here at Alter we are getting ready for another school year. I have already scheduled Team Readies Masses with football, soccer, girls’ volleyball, golf, the band, and the Lancerettes. There is the faculty in-service, freshmen orientation, and the board retreat. School opens on the Feast of the Assumption on August 15th with an All-School Mass. for Its But this is no ordinary year for Alter. It is our Jubilee Year, our fiftieth anniversary. Our doors were opened in 1962 and here we are fifty years later. What a tradition that has been Fiftieth established here at Alter! There has been two years of planning for our fiftieth and I want to take this opportunity to thank the 100+ volunteers who have contributed to our year-long celebration. There was a birthday party for Archbishop Karl Alter and Elizabeth Ann Seton also on August 15th, the Gala on September 22, Mass at St. Charles on October 14, the cruise in June, an Alter History Book, and a memorial mural of significant events in our past. Check our website for the details. I want to also take this opportunity to thank those who have supported Alter this past year through various endeavors including the Annual Fund, “Answering the Call” capital campaign and through their time and talents. The fact of the matter is that Alter, as with all Catholic institutions, could not function effectively without the support of all of its constitu- ents nor provide the quality of education that is expected for our students.
