Citi Bike FAQs for Employees What is a bike share program? Bike share is an innovative mode of transportation that allows users to make trips using publicly available bikes. It consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the service area. The bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making bike share ideal for short, one-way trips. What’s included in the free membership? By signing up for a free trial, you will have 30 days of access to the Citi Bike program. The program includes unlimited 45-minute trips on classic bikes and Ebikes. What if my trip is over the time allotment? Trips longer than 45 minutes will incur an extra $0.15 per additional minute (amount is subject to change). What’s an Ebike? Ebikes are pedal assist bicycles featuring a motor on the rear of the bike, brakes on the front along with bells on each handlebar, and a consistent, single speed so there's no need to adjust the gearing. What are the additional fees for using an Ebike? None. Ebikes are included in your membership. If I go out of town, can I pause my 30-day trial until I return? No, the trial runs for 30 days from the date of enrollment. Your membership cannot be paused. How do I find a Citi Bike station? Visit the Citi Bike or Lyft apps to find station maps with real-time bike/dock availability. Can I share this offer with my partner/roommate/family members? This is an exclusive offer for MTA employees. Please do not forward this offer to non-employees. Can I use a personal email address to sign up? No, an MTA work email address must be used. If you don’t have a work email, contact your IT or HR Department. Do I need a credit card to enroll? Yes, all accounts must have a credit card on file. What if my bike is lost or stolen? If your bike gets lost, goes missing, or gets stolen, contact Citi Bike customer service by calling 1 (855) 245-3311. You are encouraged you to file a police report if a bike has been forcibly taken or stolen. Please know that bikes that are missing for longer than 24 hours can result in a $1,200 fee (plus tax) charged you. What if I’m already Citi Bike member, am I eligible for this membership? Individuals who recently purchased a membership or have upcoming membership renewals can also access the free critical workforce membership offer. If you are an active Citi Bike member and an eligible employee, Citi Bike will ask you to verify your employment. Once verified, they will provide you with a unique gift code valid for an Annual Membership that can be used for renewal of membership when your subscription approaches expiration. How/when are the bikes cleaned and sanitized? Citi Bike has been expanding the cleaning of the bikes and docks. The team of Field Bike Mechanics clean each bike at every station they visit every day. Bikes are also disinfected every time they enter the depot or a valet or are repaired in the field. Associates are working on disinfecting the bikes as they are docked. What happens to my membership if I leave the MTA? If you separate from the MTA, you can keep the remainder of your membership. Contact Citi Bike for details. .
