SHARE/October 2019 £1.2m project in partnership with Glasgow City Council Flood Prevention/ Toddlers play Surface water area management elements Natural play area and pump track Improved parking Raingarden layout and feature navigation through site Tree and shrub planting Seating / community spaces Engaging Residents Process (2018 – now) • Funding partly in place • Partnership with Glasgow City Council • Resident engagement • Land ownership issues • Planning permission • Design Development • Achieved ‘Excellent’ (highest standard) for Building with Nature award • Pilot for 10,000 Raingardens for Scotland project • Planned site start Summer 2021 How does this project contribute to place- making? • Creating ‘place’ out of ‘no-where’ • Environmental sustainability – flood prevention, increased biodiversity, improved air quality. • Housing sustainability – people will want to live there. • Neighbourhood and community sustainability – people are more connected and look out for each other.
