Your first stop is the iconic Eiffel Tower, built in 1889 and heralded back then as the tallest structure in the world. Stroll around the surrounding Trocadero for sensational views of this wrought iron wonder and gain insight into its history from your local guide. Afterwards, continue on to the galleries of the Louvre, the world’s largest art museum. Among the highlights of your tour is sure to be Da Vinci’s famous Mona Lisa. Marvel at her smile—as so many have done before you—which seems to change ever so slightly as you look from different angles.

Day 3

Go from royal excess to the delicate brushstrokes of an impressionist master. Your day begins with a visit to Château de Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a grandeur and opulence that must be seen to be appreciated. Versailles stands as one of the most extraordinary examples of 17th-century architecture in the world, and its manicured gardens, commissioned by Louis XIV in 1661, are a sight to behold. From here, you’ll head to Giverny and the home of Claude Monet. The flowerbeds are far less extravagant than Versailles, but the roses and colorful blossoms are the very ones that inspired Monet to paint some of his most famous works.
