MoPH reports 133,010 total Covid recoveries he Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced yesterday 243 new con- fi rmed cases of coronavirus (Covid-19) during the last 24 hours, of which 188 Tare from community cases and 55 from travellers returning from abroad who are subject to quarantine. The ministry also announced one new death, aged 28 — who was receiving the necessary medical care. The MoPH also recorded 226 recover- ies from the virus during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases that recovered in Qatar to 133,010. All new cases have been introduced to isolation and are receiving necessary healthcare according to their health status. Measures to tackle Covid-19 in Qatar have succeeded in fl attening the curve and limiting the spread of the virus and the number of new daily cases and hospital ad- missions is continuing to decline each week. Qatar’s proactive and extensive testing of suspected cases has enabled the authorities to identify a high number of posi- tive cases in the community. Qatar has one of the lowest Covid-19 death rates in the world. This is a result of: 1- Very high quality of care provided thorough the public healthcare sector for Covid-19 patients. 2- Qatar’s young population. 3- Proactive testing to identify cases early. 4- Expanding hospital capacity, especially intensive care, to ensure all patients receive the medical care they need. 5- Protecting the elderly and those with chronic diseases. Even though restrictions are being lifted, and numbers are declining, this does not mean that the Covid-19 pandemic is fi nished in Qatar. People continue to be admit- ted with moderate to severe Covid-19 symptoms. Unless we follow all precautionary measures, we may experience a second wave of the virus and see numbers increasing there are already signs of this happening in other countries around the world. 124 people referred to prosecution for not wearing masks

Lewis Hamilton cemented his position as one of Formula One’s true greats when he equalled Michael Schumacher’s all- time record of seven world titles on Sunday, another staggering achievement for a boy who grew up in modest circumstances. His victory in Istanbul — the 94th of his career — allowed him to add the 2020 title to his championships of 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The son of a black father and a white mother, whose parents separated in his youth, Hamilton, 35, grew up on a municipal housing estate. His father Anthony at one time held down three jobs to fund his son’s embryonic racing career in karting. Biden’s got priorities straight. Hamilton’s journey was unprivileged and without luxury, but it was clear from an early age that he had an outstanding gift for speed and all the gutsy natural instincts of a born racer. Last season, he began voicing his concerns for the environment and revealed a fl eeting despair at the state of the world when he used Instagram to declare that the planet was “a messed-up place” and he felt he wanted “to give up”. That commentary, including revelations about his vegan lifestyle, led to the man who frequently used private jets and occupies a sport hardly known for its green credentials being accused of hypocrisy. “I’m only human,” he retorted. “Like everyone, we have up and down days.
