SUBJECT: WEEKEND SERIOUS INCIDENTS REPORT: 20 – 22 MARCH 2020

Katutura - Armed Robbery: on Friday 19/03/2020 at about 21h30 at Brakwater, three suspects; one armed with a pistol, others with knives and wearing balaclavas allegedly held the victim at gunpoint and stole from him two Generators, a laptop and watches. It is alleged that the suspects loaded the items in the victim's car and drove away. The vehicle was recovered on 20/03/2020 at about 10h00 abandoned at Mukwanangobe location in . There was no damage on the vehicle and the key was found in the vehicle. No arrest made yet. Police investigations continue.

Ondangwa - Rape: since September 2019, on various occasions at Ondiyala location Ondangwa, it is alleged that the suspect used to call a minor (a 14 years old girl) in his room and engage in sexual activities whenever her aunt is away. It is alleged that the suspect is a husband to victim's aunt. The suspect is not yet arrested as the matter was only reported on 19/03/2020 in the afternoon. Police investigations continue.

Ongenga - Culpable homicide: on Friday 20/03/2020 at about 00h30 at Eemboo village, on the Omafo - Okalongo road, it is alleged that Alfeus Imongwa Herman (24) was bumped by a driver of an unidentified motor vehicle which drove away from the scene.

Community assistance is hereby requested in pursuit of the suspect. Anyone with information is requested to alert the police at Ongenga. Police investigations continue.

Tsintsabis - Stock Theft: during February 20 at Bravo village, it is alleged that a suspect stole and drove 31 cattle into his kraal. Seven cattle were recovered as well as one carcass and dried meat. The suspect was arrested on 19/03/2020 and he will appear in the Tsumeb Magistrate Court today 23/03/2020. Police investigations continue.

Otjomuise - Inquest (Suicide): on Friday the 20/03/2020, between 05h00 and 06h00 in the bushes along Moses Garoeb near Ramatex, it is alleged that Rafael Kauapirura (26) hanged himself with a car seat belt on a tree. No suicide note found. His next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Oshikango - Inquest (Drowning): on Friday 20/03/2020 at about 11h30 at Olunghono village, it is alleged that Shigwedha Silas Ndeilenga (35) drowned in a water pond whilst catching fish. The body was retrieved from the pond and his next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Oshakati - Inquest (Suicide): on Saturday 20/03/2020 around 11h45 at Ombugayamunyoko village, it is alleged that Naftal Junias Shukifeni (23) shot himself with the neighbour's shotgun after he allegedly borrowed the gun to go kill his dog. His next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Onaanda - Inquest (Drowning): on Saturday 21/03/2020 at about 10h00 at Onanyalala village, it is alleged that Andreas Hinahonde Amakali (1year and 2months old) drowned in a bucket of traditional brew (tombo). Next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Ohangwena - Rape, Robbery and Assault Through Threatening: on Saturday around 00h00 at Onhuno, it is alleged that the victim (a 27 years old female) while on her way home from a local bar she was approached by an unknown man who took out a panga and demanded the victim to surrender her valuable items and further instructed her to remove her clothes and lay on the ground where he raped her. The suspect is not yet arrested and police investigations continue.

Rundu - Inquest (Suicide): on Saturday 21/03/2020 at about 14h00 at Mutwarandja village in Rundu, it is alleged that Sifura Anna Mudi (35) committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope on a tree. No suicide note found. Next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Uis - Dealing in cannabis: on Friday 20/03/2020 at about 19h30 in Tanibaku, Street, Uis, a 45 years old Namibian male was arrested for selling 35 grams of cannabis valued N$1750-00 to an undercover Police Officer. He will appear at Omaruru Magistrate Court today 23/03/2020. Police investigations continue.

Katutura - Possession of Cocaine: on Saturday 21/03/2020 at about 17h00 at , during a police search, two Angolan males aged 38 and 40 respectively, were found in possession of 40g of suspected crack cocaine valued at N$20 000-00. They were arrested and they will appear at Katutura Magistrate Court today 23/03/2020. Police investigations continue.

Katutura - Dealing in Cocaine powder: on Saturday 21/03/2020 at about 15h00 at Khomasdal, during a police search, a 34 years old male was found in possession of 31 doses of cocaine powder, three units of crack cocaine & 10g of cocaine powder altogether valued at N$204 00-00. An amount of N$13 400-00 (believed to be proceeds of a crime) was confiscated from the suspect. He was arrested and will appear in Katutura Magistrate Court today 23/03/2020. Police investigations continue.

Windhoek – Fatal motorcycle accident: on Saturday 21/03/2020 at about 22h00 at Pioneers Park cemetery on Hosea Kutako road, it is alleged that Scheepers Abraham (50) overturned with a motorbike which he was riding and died on the spot. The deceased was driving from south to north and on the curve he hit the pavement, lost control over the motorbike and it overturned. His next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Bethanie - Reckless and Negligent Handling of firearm: on Saturday 21/03/2020 at about 19h00 in Schellendorf location, Bethanie, it is alleged that a 62 years old male and his son (35 years old) were arguing when the son drew a knife and thereafter his father took out a firearm. They wrestled for the firerm and during the wrestling a shot went off striking a neighbour (a 79 years old male) who was sitting in another yard. The 3

victim was treated at the hospital and is reported to be in a stable condition. No arrest has been made yet but the firearm was confiscated. Police investigations continue.

Rundu – Rape: on Saturday 21 March 2020 at around 00h00 at Tuhingireni location in Kavango East, it is alleged that the suspect broke into the victim’s room while she was asleep, woke her up, threatened to kill her or anyone who will enter the room once she scream and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The victim is a 28 years old female. A 36 years old male (allegedly the victim’s ex-lover) was arrested and police investigations continue.

Outapi – Inquest (Suicide): on Sunday 22/03/2020 at about 14h00 at Okafitu kaShipopyeni village, Outapi Constituency, it is alleged that Nestor Auwanga Alfeus (29) hanged himself with a rope on a tree in a mahangu field. No suicide note found. No foul play suspected. Next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.

Katutura - Housebreaking and Theft: on Friday 20/03/2020 during night time at Hosiana Parish in Katutura, it is alleged that the suspects broke into the church through the window and stole 40 black plastic chairs, 42 curtains and seven curtain holders, all valued at N$11 500-00. No arrest or recovery made yet. Police investigations continue.

Wanaheda - Inquest (Drowning): on Sunday 22/03/2020 at about 17h30 at Gammams Bridge, Wanaheda area, it is alleged that the lifeless body of Abraham Kambundu Kashihakumwa (50), a member of the NDF stationed at Suiderhof Military Base in , was found floating in the water. The deceased was reported missing on 22/03/2020. His next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.
