A LETTER FROM TKA’S PRESIDENT

DEAR TKA FAMILY:

The past twelve months have been full of joy in many ways at The King’s Academy. We have seen unparalleled success in academics, athletics, and the arts. More importantly, we have seen God work in the hearts, minds, and bodies of many at King’s—often in miraculous ways!

These God-given wonders have reminded me often to thank Him and those who have gone before for preparing a firm foundation on which to build our current successes. As Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, it is God’s plan and the work of His obedient servants that have established The King’s Academy as a premier Christian school; with an incredible 47-year history and a hope- filled future.

One highlight of the 2016-2017 school year was the construction and completion of the Page Family Center for Performing Arts; a 23,000 square foot, state-of-the-art theatre in the middle of TKA’s 60-acre campus. This tremendous building project was the culmination of more than 40 years of faith, imagination, and hard work by many predecessors.

In 1973, King’s first music directors Larry and Marie Davies wrote a script and gathered an eager group of parents and students in King’s Cherry Road “Matchbox” gymnasium hoping to build a stage, install some theatrical lighting, and hang drops. Despite a lack of air conditioning and uncomfortable wooden bleachers, this faith-filled group of pioneers produced TKA’s first school musical, Nazarene. Thankfully, King’s families and first patrons came to the show, and so began The King’s Academy’s four-decade long commitment to honoring Christ through the theatrical arts. Because of the Davies’ legacy, we are now able to build artistic excellence on a national scale.

This story (from TKAvault.net) demonstrates, that today, we both benefit from King’s past and have a great responsibility for TKA’s future. The importance of today’s efforts to build excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts for tomorrow’s students should not be underestimated. As such, King’s Board of Governors recently approved a new strategic plan, The Future is Now, focused on: • Instilling Faith (page 30); • Impacting Learning (page 32); • Initiating Growth (page 34) • Inspiring Innovation (page 36); and • Influencing Culture (page 38) in The King’s Academy’s students, faculty, programs, and facilities.

My prayer is that the Lord will bless us each day as we use this plan to continue building His best at The King’s Academy.

Thank-you for choosing King’s to educate your children. We take our responsibility to you and your family very seriously and will continue, with God’s help, to build the finest Christian school. Please help The King’s Academy continue to expand by sharing a digital copy of this report (TKA.net/Presidents-Report) with your friends and extended family.

And, as you read this report, please join me in praising our King, the One who makes all of this excellence possible!

Sincerely,

Randal L. Martin President
