A beach was created in the street by means of 10 tip-truck loads of sand, as there was none on the beach at the time. All sorts of ideas for entertainment were canvassed, one of them being a street parade with expo stilt walkers and a car show. Thus the 1st Car Classic was born.

Spotlight on a Sponsor – presented by Kate Rider.

‘Willy’s Auto Detailing’ – Noosaville. Hill Climb & Car Show Sponsors.

The two boys from Willy’s bring youth & enthusiasm to their recently estab- lished auto business. The entity was initially set up by Will Lillecrapp in 2015 as a mobile service then ten months ago Nicolas Raymond joined him as a partner & together they quickly found a workshop on Rene Street to expand & compliment the mobile service. They had evolved their business concept at a coffee café after realising they both shared one passion – Cars! Where does the passion come from? For Nicholas the gene has been passed through his father who drove a lot of top end, mainly European cars. For Will, his choice of car is completely the opposite, he loves V8’s, Mopars, Chevs, Fords, anything with muscle!

They have been very pro active to promote their business on so- cial media, website, Instagram, plus Rob van Wegen suggested they contact the Club & get in- volved with our major Events. Their niche is ceramic coatings & paint correction for top-end luxu- ry vehicles. However, many of their regular customers drive family sedans, some having a weekly maintenance routine to en- sure their car is squeaky clean inside & outside. Expedition vehi- cles frequently turn up at the workshop covered in desert dust & in need of a lot of hard work to bring the shine back to life!

A Shed Tour of Willy’s Auto Detailing has been organised for Club members by Bruce Anderson on Saturday 30th March. Check out our Social Calendar on the website. Do your best to be there & support our sponsors.

VALE BILL WILLIAMS

Bill passed away peacefully on January 17th 2019 Aged 81 Years. A long time Member and a dear friend to many of us, Loving husband of Kay. Father of Ian, Grand- father of Sam, and Great-grandfather of Paige. We have so many happy memories of Bill and his dry Welsh humour. He was an enthusiastic Member and compet- ed in many Sprint and Hill Climb events throughout S.E. Queensland. He loved racing his Little Mk2 Escort and en- joyed many weekends away with his racing mates and regularly competing in the Noosa Hill Climb, where, in the last couple of events he attended, he was awarded oldest competitor! Bill was always participating in Setting Up and all working bees at the Hill. His favourite job was running the volunteer BBQs. Relatives and friends attended a Service to celebrate Bill's life, held at the Gregson and Weight chapel at Noosaville, Wednesday January 23rd.

The TTT day & Super Sprints run by HRCC was the first event for the year 23/24 February at Morgan Park the weekend that Cyclone Oma was due to cause destruction. The winds kept up all weekend and the nights were very cool, needing a sleeping bag to stay warm. The Saturday was a Try, Tune & Training day in other words, a day to sort your vehicle out with 90 vehicles en- tered. Sunday was the Sprints with 70 entrants who were put into groups of similar vehicles. Shane, Rick & Bruce D were all in the same class. Someone didn’t complete a run due to inappropriate clothing we won’t men- tion any names. The next event will be SCMSA round 1 @ Morgan Park 16/17 March.

Driver Profiles

Bruce Dekker from Maroochydore with Phrank (yes, the car has a name). Bruce’s wife bought the ute to match her GT and a total re- build was in order. He has owned Phrank for around 7 years. This was his and Phranks’ first time on a race track and he was trying not to inflict any panel damage as he drove to the track and wanted to drive it home in one piece. After taking to the track Bruce said he loved it, so I’m sure we’ll see him on the track for more action.

Rick Chisholm is from Biloela and has made the long trip to try out the LS pow- ered Nissan 300ZX. He has owned the car for about 12 months and tells me it is still under develop- ment. He is also a virgin to the racetrack and was having a ball.

Driver Profiles (cont)

Bruce Anderson from Ringtail Creek has owned the PRB Clubman for about 6 years. He has competed at numerous events. This weekend the clutch/slave cylinder let him down and couldn’t get a replacement in Warwick, so he couldn’t compete in the Supersprints on Sunday.

Paul Ritchie of Coolum, only picked up the 1644cc Sunbeam Alpine the day prior. Paul was very happy how the new car was performing on the track during the TTT on Saturday. He let me in on secret that this is like Maxwell Smart’s car, but didn’t have a secret agent driving.

Shane Hill is from Park- lands and has owned the Nis- san Silvia with 5ltr Windsor engine for less than a year. This is the 4th event for this car. He is still sorting it out and, on the weekend, had a few issues with the fuel filter clogging up.
