OS 129 Greenwood Walks 1 – 5 Miles Nr. Nottingham Nottingham & 1 - 8 Km Loughborough

Greenwood Community Forest has described these early Greenwood Walks in booklets, which are just to be used as a guide – i.e. some not visited yet.

Nottingham County Council have some great information on access walks for wheelchairs and pushchairs which are covered on their latest website - www.greenwoodforest.org.uk/

These walks are all around Nottingham and Mansfield and are put together in booklets called the ‘Greenwood Walks’ and are guides to access in Nottinghamshire Community Forests. Click on the Greenwoods information for details of the walks and maps, which also show Visitors Centre, car parks, toilets, picnic tables etc.

Greenwood Walks z Attenborough Nature Reserve – This is a large nature reserve with lakes and a huge variety of birds and other wildlife, it has a discovery centre with café, picnic areas and many other attractions and activities. See my website for more information. z Wollaton Park – Is historic parkland, which has Wollaton Hall and gardens and the Sensory Gardens. The Courtyard Stables also has a Museum and café and sometimes deer can be seen roaming through the park. z Bestwood Country Park – Has beautiful woodland walks with a wide range of wildlife habitats with a picnic and children’s play area it, also goes past the Alexandra Lodge and Bestwood Lodge Hotel. See my website for more information. z Brierley Forest Park – The Park has a wide variety of birds and wildlife it has children’s play areas, picnic areas and a Visitors Centre. See my website for more information. z Vicar Water Country Park – Was created from the pit heaps of Colliery and is very scenic with it’s 2 small lakes and excellent bird life and Visitors Centre. Greenwood Walks 2 z Linby – A picturesque woodland walk with spectacular views to Newstead and Hucknall from Linby Tip, Hucknall close by has a market on Thursdays. z Cossall – The Cossall canal walk goes through the unspoiled village which is very scenic with it’s church and cottages and follows the canal a short way with it’s many nature features. z Trowell – This is a short walk near the Nottingham canal with a garden centre close by. z Mill Lakes – The Mill Lakes are adjacent to Bestwood Country Park and has a beautiful lake with a wide range of birds and wildlife and places for a picnic and close to Hucknall Station. z Burton Joyce – A pleasant walk along the in Burton Joyce a busy village, the walk features a park with seating. z Colwick Country Park – Location on the outskirts of Nottingham and the walk is around lakes, which have a Marina, Colwick Hall, Church and the Holme Pierrepont National Water Centre close by.
