Stefan Duncan’s art was exhibited at the Columbus County Arts Center during N.C. Pecan Harvest Festival weekend and a reception in his honor on Thursday night drew an appreciative crowd. The exhibit, which re- mained on display at the Arts Center until Dec. 1, included artwork based on Illuminism, a spiritual art and a new term that he coined while creating a unique and different form or art. The exhibit featured more than 20 pieces of his original artwork. The paintings feature scenes from the bustling city to sunsets on Lake Waccamaw, where he spent summers with his grandparents, Sally and Roy Duncan. He is a cousin of Peggy Willis of Hallsboro. Duncan said time spent at Lake Waccamaw influenced his paintings, as most have water in them. “I live through my art,” Duncan said at the reception.
