Page-3 PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS Location Ratanpur-Kandra Village, Gamharia Block, District Saraikela- Kharsawan, Jharkhand Land requirement The proposed expansion project will be installed on the available land within the existing plant premises, comprising of total 24.63 hectares (60.87 acres) as well on the additional land of total 56.3 hectares (139.13 acres) adjoining the existing plant premises. Raw water Make-up Water requirement for the proposed expansion project and 12 requirement & source MW under implementation CPP project will be about 3862 cu.m/day, which will be sourced from Subarnarekha River. Power requirement The estimated power requirement of the proposed expansion project will be 121 MW. The power requirement will be met from 75 MW captive power plant and from State grid. Effluent generation & The plant will be designed as a zero discharge plant. The water will be disposal recirculated through cooling and treatment. The entire waste water will be recycled for various purposes inside the plant.

Domestic waste water will be treated in sewage treatment plant. Air pollution control Adequate control measures like Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP), bag filters, dust suppression system & Stacks of adequate height at relevant points will be installed.

Page-4 Solid Waste  DRI - Dust from ESP, bag filters and char comprises solid wastes from Management DRI plant. Accretions are generated only when the kiln stops. Accretions are used for land filling and road making purpose. Dolo- char from the DRI units will be used in FBC boiler for power generation.

 SMS - Solid wastes that will be generated from IF are slag and dust. The hot slag generated from IF will be transferred to slag yard after cooling. IF slag will be used for road construction and land filling purposes after metal recovery in the Metal Recovery Plant. Solid waste (dust as collected in the De-dusting systems) from SMS will be used in Pellet Plant as a pelletizing mix.

Solid wastes that will be generated from caster are the scales. The scales are collected from the drain and transferred to IF for reuse.

 Ferro Alloy - Slag generated during Ferro Manganese production will be used as a raw material for Silico Manganese production. Slag generated during Silico Manganese and Ferro Chrome production will be used for road construction / land filling after chrome recovery.

 Rolling Mill - The solid wastes from the rolling mill are end cuts and miss rolls, which will be re-used in induction furnace.

 Captive Power Plant - The fly ash generated from Captive Power Plant will be utilized as raw material for the cement plant. The bottom ash generated will be used for road construction / land filling.

 Iron Ore Beneficiation and Pellet Plant - Tailing from beneficiation plant will be used for low landfilling / filling of abandoned pits / mines and in road construction process. Dust collected from ESP and Bag filters and hearth layer of the main furnace comprises solid wastes from pellet plant. The entire dust will be collected and reused in pellet making process. The hearth layer is also reused.

 Solid waste of domestic / commercial origin generated in the plant will be disposed of suitably in consultation with the concerned Civic body. Manpower, to the tune of 1700 persons will be required for the plant Manpower operations. Project cost Rs. 886 Crores
