3rd July 2015

Dear Parent/Carer,

I'm delighted to let you know about a project we are currently working on at Alder Grange School. It follows on from the successful venture last year with our girl band.

Arizona was a 4 piece girl band and their debut single 'Electricity' was released on the 13th July 2014 with a week-long promotional tour. They performed to approximately 20,000 people. Proceeds from the single supported Petal Childhood Cancer Research, as a fellow student from the girl's year group had been diagnosed with cancer. The project was a tremendous accomplishment and achieved a position of 111 in the Official Indie Music Charts. Our music video can be seen in the YouTube links below- Music video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nss72krIgA8

The whole production was amazing and we learned a great deal about achieving chart success! We are again forming a band and would like to attempt to get them into the Official Single Charts Top 40. For this project, we have chosen to work with the charity the Sophie Lancaster Foundation (http://www.sophielancasterfoundation.com/).

We are currently in the recording studio laying down the musical instruments for the single which will be released on Tunes and Amazon on the 11th July 2016. We are delighted that Helmshore have agreed to be part of a school choir that will feature on the single. The recording of the students will take place on Monday 6th July 2015 in school.

We will be recording a professional music video for the single and part of this will be done whilst recording youngsters in the school hall. This will show the build-up and how the project has developed. We will also be shooting a staged ‘live performance’ of the single at King Georges Hall in Blackburn in January or February 2016. Tickets for this will available in the Autumn Term and we would love as many of the youngsters and their parents to be involved in this as possible. Further details regarding the project and music video recording will be also be issued during the Autumn Term 2015.

We are really pleased that you are able to share in this fantastic project with us. We have many more exciting developments coming soon and we look forward to updating you all shortly!

Kind regards,

David Heywood Acting Assistant Headteacher and Curriculum Leader of Creative, Expressive and Performing Arts
