Paint Strippers Sold at Lowe’s Containing Methylene Chloride or N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP)
Methodology. To find examples of paint stripping (or removing) products sold by Lowe’s containing methylene chloride or NMP, Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families staff clicked on the “Paint” button on the left-hand panel of the Lowe’s website, and then clicked on “Paint thinners and removers” to arrive at a listing of relevant products. To find additional paint removers, we also clicked on the “Cleaners & Chemicals” link on the “All Paint” portion of Lowe’s Paint page, accessed from clicking on the “Paint” link under “Departments” on the homepage. We then reviewed the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) (standard forms prepared by the manufacturer as required by OSHA) for individual products. Customer reviews were available on the website for all items listed below, indicating that Lowe’s customers do use these products.
