2018 ANNUAL REPORT

Can you feel the fire burning From the torch they held high To guide us through the ages And fill our hearts with pride Can you feel the need to take that torch And keep the flame alive If you do they have passed to you The spirit of the Famous Five

Chorus to the Spirit of the Famous Five by Carolyn Harley

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

2018 was exciting and transformational for the Famous 5 Foundation. The call to action on gender equality and the changing landscape in the economy drove us to explore programs to enhance our current legacy and move the Foundation into the future.

We identified where the Foundation could have the most impact on our future generation and developed a program to address the need, while continuing to share the legacy of the Famous 5. By identifying this need, the Foundation expanded its vision and focus for the coming years.

In the past, we successfully changed anthem lyrics, erected statues, and had the history of the Famous 5 included in the Grade 5 school curriculum across the Western provinces. We now hope to expand on that education through the development of our own Girls’ Leadership Program.

Thank you to all that made this year’s activities so successful.

Gabriela Wilson Chair, Famous 5 Foundation "Our dream at the Famous 5 Foundation is to create a full-cycle experience - imagine a girl completing the Girls’ Leadership program then growing up and speaking at the Famous 5 Series!"
