We are very glad that we can welcome you as participants of regional conference of the network “RML2future” – Network for Multilingualism and Linguistic Diversity in Europe, which will take place in Eupen/.

The conference, supported by the Education Minister of the German-speaking Community, Oliver Paasch, marks the launch of a series of expert meetings. The main subject of this first meeting is certification and testing of language skills.

The aim of the network is to promote multilingualism and linguistic diversity in Europe, actively involving regional and minority languages. To ensure that the conference will be a success for all, we provide you with some practical information.

Arrival: You should travel to the hotels that are mentioned above.

Arrival by car You should drive directly to your hotel (see address above). In the attachment you find the directions to the venue, the Ministry of the German- speaking Community (DG) in Belgium.

Arrival by train The arrival station by train from Germany is Aachen main station (Hauptbahnhof). From Aachen main station to Hotel Buschhausen in Aachen you can take a taxi (5 minutes) to the hotel. From Aachen main station, bus nr. 14 leaves every 30 minutes to Eupen: you should get off the bus at the Ministry of the German-speaking Community (DG). From the bus station in Eupen the bus to Bellmerin / Hütte goes every 30 minutes to the lower town of Eupen, where you find Ambassador Hotel Bosten. see also at www.bahn.de

From Brussels: If you travel via Brussels, there is a train connection both to Aachen and Eupen: - to Aachen via Brussels North station or Brussels Midi/South station - to Eupen via Brussels North station or Louvain/Leuven see also at www.bahn.de or www.sncb.be

Arrival and departure We kindly ask you to inform us about the time of arrival and departure, as well as the means of travel to [email protected] . We need this information to plan the different parts of the programme, in particular for the planning of the departure on Wednesday.

Shuttle from Hotel Buschhausen in Aachen to the venue Each day a shuttle-bus will go from Hotel Buschhausen in Aachen to the venue in Eupen and back. You find the times of departure in the programme.

Language of the conference The language of the conference will be predominantly German, but also partly English. There will be translation available for German and English.

Information about the workshops Tuesday afternoon there will be four workshops. You can sign up for one of them during registration in Eupen. More information about the workshop will follow later.

Bringing information material We ask all the participants to bring information material about your own region, e.g. about projects, initiatives on language promotion, language certification or testing of language skills of your own minority or majority language. We will prepare an information desk, where all the documents can be presented. In this way we can ensure good exchange between the regions.

Programme Attached we send you the programme of the regional conference. There might be some small changes until the conference starts.

Registration Registration for the conference takes place on Tuesday morning between 8:30- 9:30 hr in the Ministry of the German-speaking Community. A registration desk will be there for you, where you can register for the conference. In case you did not yet transfer the conference fee, you can pay 150 Euro per person in cash.
