The Sunday Times Leaders Scholarship Henley Business School (University of Reading), in conjunction with , is offering an exciting chance to win a scholarship for a place on the Henley MA Leadership programme, starting on 7 October 2019. For more details about the course please see: https://www.henley.ac.uk/executive- education/course/ma-leadership In order to be in with a chance of winning this prize, you will need to submit a 600 word opinion piece entitled ‘How can leaders provide stability in unpredictable times?’ along with 50 to 100 words on why you believe you deserve to win this scholarship. The judging panel will consist of a member of Henley Business School faculty, a representative from the Sunday Times plus two independent judges. Submissions should be made in Word format and emailed to [email protected] by midnight on Friday 31 May 2019. Please read the Competition T&Cs below carefully as, by entering the Competition, you will be accepting, and agreeing to comply with, the terms and conditions therein. Terms and Conditions 1. Promoter. This MA Leadership Scholarship Competition (the “Competition”) is run by the University of Reading, whose address is Whiteknights, PO Box 217, Reading, , RG6 6AH. Henley Business School forms part of the University of Reading, so references to “Henley” or “We” in these Terms and Conditions (the “T&Cs”) are to the University of Reading. The Competition is being run in partnership with the Sunday Times . 2. Course Eligibility. The Competition is open to anyone who is eligible for the Henley Business School MA Leadership Programme (the “Course”) – please see https://www.henley.ac.uk/executive-education/course/ma-leadership for full conditions of Course eligibility but a minimum of 5 years’ relevant management experience, or a first degree plus 3 years’ relevant management experience, is required. If successful, you will still need to satisfactorily complete the formal Course application procedure – and if you fail to do so, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize. 3. Competition Eligibility: Readers of the Sunday Times. The Competition is only open to readers of the Sunday Times. By submitting your entry you confirm you are an online or hard copy reader of the Sunday Times. 4. Excluded Entrants. Employees of Times Limited or Henley, their agents, family members, or anyone else professionally associated with the Competition are not eligible. Previous applicants are welcome to reapply. 5. Acceptance of these T&Cs. All information detailing how to enter this Competition, including any adverts, form part of these T&Cs. It is a condition of entry that these T&Cs are accepted as final and that you the entrant agree to abide by these T&Cs. Submission of your entry email will be taken to mean acceptance of these T&Cs. 6. Email Entry Conditions. To enter the Competition, entrants must submit their essay by email to [email protected] (the “Entry Email”). Data Protection. The information you provide to us in, and attached to, your Entry Email will be used as set out in these T&Cs (including Clause 21 (Identity of Winner)). Henley would like to send you information about Henley services and opportunities that may be of interest to you. Whether or not we send you such information by electronic means (email or SMS or telephone) shall be determined by the information you include in your Entry Email, as detailed in paragraph 6 above. We may still send you marketing information about Henley services and opportunities by post – if you do not wish to receive information in this way, please say so in your Entry Email. Entry Essay. All elements of your entry (both the Entry Email and the essay) must be in English and the essay must be no more than 600 words long. In addition entrants should provide 50-100 words on why they should win the scholarship. Please remain within the word count – entries that exceed the word count will not be considered. Entries will not be returned. 9. Closing Date. All entries must be received by midnight on Friday 31 May 2019. 10. Own Work. All entries submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them and must not have been published elsewhere or have won a prize in any other competition. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that their essay does not infringe the copyright of any third party or any laws. 11. Right for Henley and the Sunday Times to use your essay. Copyright in all essays submitted for this Competition remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of their providing the Competition, each entrant grants a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual licence to the Sunday Times and Henley to feature any or all of the submitted essays in any of their publications, their websites and/or in any promotional material connected to this Competition without payment to the entrant. The individuals responsible for any essays so featured will be fully credited. 12. Other Entry Terms. Only one entry per person. Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties. We reserve the right to disqualify you if you are in breach of these T&Cs. 13. Shortlist. Up to 10 entrants will be shortlisted from all entries received by Henley, by its MA Leadership Programme Director. Shortlisted entrants shall be those whose essay displays the most original and exceptional thinking. 14. Judging Panel. Shortlisted entries will go before the judging panel who will decide the Competition winner. The Panel will consist of a member of Henley faculty, a Sunday Times representative, plus at least two independent judges. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. We will send the full names of the judges to anyone who writes within one month of the closing date of the Competition requesting details of the judges and who encloses a self-addressed envelope to MA Leadership Judges Information, c/o Executive Education, Henley Business School, Greenlands, Henley on Thames, RG9 3AU. 15. The Prize Scholarship. The winning entrant shall win a full bursary to take a place on the Course commencing October 2019 (current list value £17,900). Full details of the programme can be found at www.henley.ac.uk/MALeadership. 16. Notification of Competition winner. The winner shall be notified by 28 June 2019. We will contact the winner by email or telephone using the details submitted in the Entry Email. 17. Winner Ineligibility. In the event of the winner being unable to commence the Course, including by failing to satisfactorily complete the Course application procedure referred to at paragraph 2 within two weeks of being notified of his/her being offered the Scholarship, Henley will offer the prize to the next entrant on the shortlist, selected in accordance with these T&Cs. Should the winner withdraw from the Course after commencement, Henley reserves the right to offer the Scholarship to the next entrant, as above, or to withdraw the Scholarship. This decision will be dependent on how much of the Scholarship remains unused. 18. 10% Discount. Everyone who enters the Competition and fully complies with these T&Cs (including satisfying all eligibility criteria) will be entitled to a 10% fee reduction on the MA Leadership list price beginning in October 2019. Please note that this reduction applies only to the stages you commit to at that point – for example if you decide to do only Stage 1 your fee reduction will apply to that and not to other stages booked at a later date. To be eligible for the discount you must reference the Competition in your Course application. 19. Expenses. No travel, accommodation or incidental expenses are payable to the winner. 20. Publicity. The winner’s surname and county/country may be disclosed to anyone who writes within one month after the published closing date, enclosing a stamped addressed envelope, to MA Leadership Winner, c/o Executive Education, Henley Business School, Greenlands, Henley on Thames, RG9 3AU. By entering the Competition you agree to us sharing your surname and county/country in this manner. 22. No Cash Alternatives. The prizes as described are available on the date of publication. All elements of the prize are non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives. 23. Acts outside Henley’s reasonable control. Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and accordingly the Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof. 24. Limitation of Liability. Insofar as permitted by law, Henley and its respective agents and distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of Henley, or its agents and distributors, or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected. 25. Governing Law & Jurisdiction. These T&Cs shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of & Wales.
