Company Recognition • Campaign Awards WHO IS ALICE? - Best Affiliate Agency Campaign
- Pacesetter of the Year
- Best Kickoff Event ALICE is an acronym that stands for Asset Limited, Income - Best Overall Campaign Constrained, Employed.
• Marion Marshall Award ALICE represents a large population of working families that have difficulty affording all their basic monthly household expenses, such as housing, food, healthcare, childcare and transportation. Best Practices Round Robin ALICE might be your coworker, day care provider, hair stylist, mechanic, coffee barista, or even a family member who works one Closing or two jobs to make ends meet. These families are often only one crisis, medical emergency or major car or home repair away from financial disaster which will cascade them into poverty.
To better understand the prevalence and situation of ALICE’s, several United Ways across six states, including Capital Area United Way, commissioned Rutgers University to conduct a research-based, comprehensive analysis of financial demographics and living costs by county. The research report provides objective, comprehensive data and will allow United Special Thanks To Today’s Sponsor: Ways to better understand where to invest donor dollars, advocate for public policy and ensure health and human service issues are addressed at the root cause.
In the coming months, you will learn more about ALICE and how you can be part of the dialogue and help mobilize communities in redefining the struggle for financial stability. Understanding ALICE will help United Way develop more successful approaches to long-lasting change and ultimately ensure ALICEs move from a struggling population to a thriving and successful group of families.
