Instructions for obtaining an individual plot:
1. Register for a plot here: https://voices.inverhills.edu/garden/grow-your-own- apply-for-a-garden-plot/
2. Please print, read & sign this garden agreement (pp 2-4)
3. Write a check to Inver Hills Community College
$10 for students
$15 for staff & community members
Scholarships available
4. Bring check and signed, completed agreement to our orientation meeting on Friday March 18 at 6:30 in Heritage Hall 203
If you cannot make this meeting, contact Thad Ballestrazze to arrange orientation.
All plot holders will be asked to donate 3 total hours (per plot) during the season to the communal garden area. These hours can be scheduled anytime throughout the season, at your convenience.

Gardener Agreement
Gardening with other students, staff and community members is an enjoyable activity that also requires a commitment and responsibility.
By signing this agreement, you agree the following:
I have completed the online registration and paid the necessary fee for my plot(s)
I will contribute three hours over the course of the season to the communal area of the garden. Hours will be arranged with Thad Ballastrazze
I will not drive on the service roads on campus. I understand that the best place to park is in the south parking lot, located on College Trail Road. Help with transporting items to the garden can be obtained by contacting Thad & making an appointment
All items and produce must be cleared from your plot by November 1. Any items left after Nov 1 will be removed & you may lose gardening privileges in the future
I understand that if there is no work done in my plot over a three week period, my plot will be considered abandoned & forfeited

I will use materials and equipment safely and securely.
I will keep the garden areas clear and free from any materials or growth that may be a safety hazard to myself or others.
I will keep and maintain my garden plot, including watering, weeding & general upkeep
I will maintain one foot of clear space between the garden plot and any fences, and to not grow plants on any fences
My plants and materials will remain within my plot.
I will clean & return community tools to their correct location, and keep them safe for other gardeners.
I will ONLY use products that are on the community approved list as posted on the garden website (no pesticides or other applications).
If I would like to use an organic fertilizer not on the current garden list, I will clear the product prior to its use with the garden facilitators, listed at end of this document
I will not to grow invasive plants.
I will follow rules of the compost system in the garden
I will not use any plastic markers in my plot
I will fully supervise any children who accompany me. If I do not, we may be asked to leave.
No pets are allowed in the garden areas. Service animals are allowed.
Inver Hills is a no smoking/tobacco free campus; there will be no smoking or tobacco use of any kind in the garden.
I will not sell any produce, plants, or flowers from my plot
I will not garden in threats of extreme weather
I understand that photographs may be taken of me, and of those who I bring to the garden. I will notify the garden coordinator should I not wish my photograph to be released prior to the start of the growing season.
I understand that this agreement may change as necessary to meet MnSCU bylaws. The garden coordinators will contact me if a change to the agreement must be made in the middle of the season, and I may cease gardening should such a change occur.
If I wish to relinquish my plot I will contact one of the garden coordinators. I understand that once a plot is assigned, there will be no refunds of the application fee. 3 IHCC / Metropolitan State 2017 Garden Plot Agreement 4
I understand that failure to abide by the above rules may prevent access to future gardening activities.

We are a state agency & must follow OSHA rules – as such, anything used in the garden must be kept on record by the College with corresponding documentation. The following products are on record & may be used
