This is a good thing because it is important when you are injured. Acute pain is protective. This is the pain that lets you know that something is wrong and that you need to get checked out. Pain can help diagnose problems with your body. There are different kinds of pain, and describing the type is useful in helping identify the cause: for example, is it recurring, constant, steady, knife-like, radiating, sharp, or dull. Sometimes pain continues long after it's necessary called chronic pain. Keeping a pain diary that explains the onset, duration, type of pain, what helps the pain, and what makes the pain worse will help your doctor to pinpoint the problem and provide the right treatment. If the source of the pain is identified and treated, the pain will subside. If you are looking for Pain Management Alternatives to Medicine please attend the presentation on Thursday, August 8th at 12:30 PM here at the senior center. You will learn alternatives to taking more medication and how the pain clinic uses server different methods to treat different conditions. Call the center at 468-3366 to sign up for the presentation.

Do you have medical concerns, question or a short term special medical need that you would like some advice on? Brenda Ives, our site nurse, is available Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Please make sure to call first at 468-3366.
