Development of vPE Router
Objective To develop an open source virtual provider edge (vPE) router as a virtual network function (VNF) for network equipment vendors and service providers who wish to offer network virtualization capable solutions.
Challenge Currently vPE Router with complete edge router functionality is not available as a VNF, in open source. Hence it is a challenge for network equipment vendors and service providers who need to build and offer this capability quickly.
Solution Veryx team realized the vPE functionality utilizing individual PE features taken from a set of open source software. The solution included the following features:
Bridging: 802.1Q VLAN, Q-in-Q, Routing: BGP, OSPF, RIP, IS-IS Transport: MPLS, LDP Security: ACL QoS: Service differentiation, ingress policing Management: CLI, REST
Veryx team thus demonstrated their capability in terms of in-depth understanding of these features as well as being able to adapt open source components to quickly implement and integrate a solution.
