COACH THE COACH CLINIC Sat, March 28th and Sat, April 4th The Fieldhouse: 1630 Challenge Drive, Concord

The Fieldhouse is sponsoring a Coach The Coach clinic to give parent volunteers a head start on training and coaching their teams. Focus is on drills, practice plans, conditioning, and general discussions on how to give players better instruction. It’s exciting to have the following lineup of guys who love the game, have a high level of experience at playing and teaching, and are willing to share their knowledge.

10:00‐11:00 : Armando Gutierrez – Eating, Thinking, and Performing Like an Athlete 10:00‐11:00 : Don Gieseke – Preparing Practice Plans for the whole season

11:15‐12:15 : Michael Nisco – Pitching Drills, Mechanics, and Philosophies 11:15‐12:15 : Brett Thomas – Catching Drills, Mechanics, and Philosophies

12:30‐1:30 : Eddie Christian – Hitting Drills, Mechanics, and Approach 12:30‐1:30 : Don Gieseke – Infield Defense, Drills and Fundamentals

Armando Gutierrez, CSCS: Strength and Condition coach for Toronto Blue Jays organization . Awarded Strength Coach of the Year in 2011, International League Strength Coach of the Year in 2013. Worked with National and Jr National teams in for MLB’s Development Program (Europe). San Jose Sharks intern strength & conditioning coach in 2009. Graduated from Fresno State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science (2009).

Michael Nisco: Pitched for St. Mary's College (D1), and professionally in the Italian League. Varsity Pitching Coach at De La Salle HS, Pitching Coach at Northeastern State University (D2), and CSU Northridge (D1) ‐ Volunteer Coach. Currently an Associate Scout with the Washington Nationals.

Brett Thomas: Brett brings a great deal of experience of teaching the catching position. After his playing days at Cal in the Pac‐12 Conference Brett immediately broke into coaching. Since his playing days he has coached in Division 1, Junior College and high school baseball and in just 7 years of coaching has had four catchers drafted and ten catchers receive scholarships to Division 1 schools. Brett runs the Catching Academy where he teaches catching all over the Bay Area.

Eddie Christian: Played 8 seasons of in the Marlins, Angels, and Mariners organization reaching the AAA level in 1999. Drafted in MLB draft by the Seattle Mariners in 1988 out of Salesian HS and again in the 1992 draft by the Marlins out of Cal State – Long Beach. Currently provides professional baseball instruction for dedicated athletes and trains numerous players in the Bay Area.

Don Gieseke: Played and coached baseball at the amateur level for 40 years (since 5!). Passionate about the game, especially in helping parents and kids to teach and play the game correctly and to use the baseball experience as a spring board to becoming a community leader. Currently runs The Fieldhouse, an indoor baseball training facility in Concord, and also a member of More Than A Game, a non‐profit organization that focuses on excellence in athletics and leadership thru community service.
