ASICS Marathon in - Sunday 7th April 2019 IMPORTANT - Park Road, , Road Closures and on road parking prohibition.

The ASICS Marathon will be using Park Road, Timperley through to the A56 Manchester Road as part of the race route for the first time this year. As organisers of the event we appreciate the support that the residents of Timperley and those living in the immediate vicinity have given to the event in past years and are aware of the restrictions that the event places on your movements. The change in route this year is to facilitate the larger number of runners taking part in the event and to ensure their safety. This change has been made following consultation with Greater Manchester Police, Transport for Greater Manchester and . Around 16,000 competitors will be turning left onto Park Road from 09:50 for wheelchairs and 10:09 for runners. The last runners making this turn are expected at around 12:45. To allow the traffic management, particularly in the centre of Timperley, to be put into place Park Road will be closed between 08:30 and 14:30. Vehicle access Residents on Park Road and the roads adjoining it will be able to leave after the road closure comes into place until 09:40 under the direction of marshals and stewards who will already be in place. This will be onto Park Road and then west on Park Road where they can join the A56 to travel south and then onto the diversion route. Residents will also be able to leave after the event has passed sometime around 13:15, again on what will be a closed road. We ask that anyone taking advantage of this drives slowly as there will be staff working on the closed road. Alternatively, residents can park their cars on Moss Lane where they can exit onto the A56 in all day. Unfortunately, there is no return access for residents on to Park Road or access for other vehicles such as delivery vehicles during the period of the road closure. On Road Parking Parking on Park Road will also be prohibited from 18:00 on Saturday 6th April through to the conclusion of the event. On previous occasions for our events all residents have been extremely helpful in ensuring that no vehicles were parked on the route and therefore no penalty notices were issued, or vehicles towed away. Road opening times are governed not only by the competitors but also by safety measures which have to remain in place to protect our workforce who will be removing traffic management controls and for our waste teams who will be cleaning up the roads after the event. We apologise for any inconvenience that this will cause to you and would like to thank you for your cooperation and support of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon.
