MR SEENEY ASKED THE MINISTER FOR NATURAL RESOURCES, MINES AND WATER (MR PALASZCZUK)—

QUESTION:

With reference to his answer to Question on Notice No. 1491 asked on 4 October 2005, in which he was able to provide courtesy of local governments and councils, data on water supply levels in Queensland council areas at September 2005—

(1) As five months have now passed, will he provide courtesy of local governments and councils, updated data on ongoing water restrictions that local governments are enacting due to the critically low levels of water supply in storages?

(2) Will he provide for each council (reported separately) (a) water supply estimates, (b) the date which each expects to expend their current water supply and (c) the level of water restriction being implemented?

ANSWER:

(1), (2) (a)&(b) Updated data on ongoing local government water restrictions and their estimates of supply are shown in the attachment. These figures were provided during February 2006.

(2)(c) While local governments and councils have advised the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Water if restrictions are in place (see attachment), they did not provide details on the levels of restrictions being implemented nor those that will be implemented as the situation changes. For further information on the water restrictions being implemented, please contact the local government directly.
