YES / NO Neighbourhood Area Details Neighbourhood Area Name: Stapeley and District Parish Please include a map of the area (4MB) Please describe the area: The parish of Stapeley and District is a predominantly rural area, with the major land use being agricultural. Towards the North of the parish is a large residential development. The parish is located towards the South-Western boundary of the Cheshire East Borough Council area. Stapeley and Batherton share boundaries with Austerson, Hatherton, Nantwich, Walgherton, Willaston and Wybunbury. Stapeley and District area comprises the two parishes of Stapeley and Batherton and together form the administrative area of ‘Stapeley & District Parish Council’. The area includes one public house, a neighbourhood retail centre, two primary schools and a community hall. Also located within the Parish boundary is a technology and business park (Stapeley House), easily accessible by the A51. The parish is crossed by several footpaths, including the Crewe and Nantwich Circular Walk which attracts many leisure walkers and groups. P a g e 1 o f 2 Designation of a Neighbourhood Area Application Form Please explain why this area is considered to be appropriate to be designated as a Neighbourhood Area: Having considered options for the neighbourhood area, the Parish Council would like the entire parish area to be designated, in line with the presumption in the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. In 2008 the community of Stapeley and District produced a Parish Plan, which can help inform a Neighbourhood Plan. Although this original Plan omitted Batherton, this error was corrected when a later ‘refreshed’ Plan was prepared and included Batherton. Lying immediately South of the urban settlement of Nantwich and under pressure from urban expansion, a Neighbourhood Plan is considered essential to ensure the needs of the parish population and communities, and the largely agriculturally-based economic activity are properly met, by analysing and co-ordinating future land use and development in the most appropriate and sustainable way. Hence, Stapeley and District Parish Council passed a motion to proceed with Neighbourhood Plan creation in 2014. No Strategic Sites have been identified within Stapeley and District Parish by the Cheshire East Council's Draft Core Strategy. What is the intention of the Neighbourhood Area?
