Are you a new Assistant Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster? Are you about to become one? Are you a Boy parent? Are you an Arrow of Light (“Webelos 2”) leader or parent preparing to move on to a Boy Scout Troop? Are you a Troop Committee member or a parent who wants to help your son's troop operate at it's best? Do you want to make a positive difference in boys' lives?

This course, along with Introduction to Outdoor Leaders Skills , is essential required training for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters and anyone else who wants to learn how the Boy Scout program operates. These two courses are the keys to giving the boys in your Troop the best program possible. Both courses are also prerequisites for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters who want to take .

Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Specific Training is designed to help you get up to speed quickly as a Troop leader. This course is open to ALL Boy Scout leaders and parents as well as Webelos leaders and parents. See how a well –run Boy Scout troop operates. This course is NOT just for Scoutmasters!

What will you be doing? - Learning the basics of how a "boy lead" Scout Troop is organized and how to let the boys run it. - Learning what a good troop program contains and how it works. - Getting resources, contacts and information so you will never be alone or lost. - Having a fun time. What do you need to bring with you? - Wear your uniform. We'll be discussing the uniform as one of the methods of . - Bring a copy of the Boy Scouts Handbook and The Scoutmaster Handbook, if you have them. - Bring a brown-bag lunch. We will be eating lunch together. - If you can borrow a patrol flag from a troop or Webelos den, bring it along! What is the course outline? - Part I: Getting Started: The Role of a Scoutmaster / Adult Leader in a Boy-Led Troop - Part II: Lighting the Fire: The Outdoor Program and the Advancement Program - Part III: Keeping It Going: Program Planning and Troop Administration What does it cost? - Nothing, zilch, nada, zero. We'll supply the materials; you provide your own brown-bag lunch. - Donations will be accepted but are not required.
