Siddle, 34, is making his fi fth coaching stop and fi rst as a head coach. He previ- ously served as an assistant coach at Hargrave Military Academy, Gardner-Webb, UNCW and NC State. Siddle becomes the 13th head coach in UNCW history.

Siddle played for and coached with Keatts and served as interim head coach for the Seahawks in March of 2017 before joining his longtime mentor on the NC State bench in Raleigh. Siddle is a tireless recruiter and was tabbed the No. 4 recruiter in the country earlier this year.

During his three-year stay at UNCW from 2014-17, Siddle helped the Seahawks return to prominence in the CAA, winning three regular season championships and two CAA Tournament crowns (2016, 2017). UNCW compiled a 72-28 record with three post-season berths in Siddle’s fi rst stop on the North Carolina coast.

The Seahawks went 72-28 overall in Siddle’s three years and advanced to the postseason all three campaigns, including the CIT (2015), NCAA (2016) and NCAA (2017). Game #3 | UNCW 73, Troy 50 | Mako MTE | Asheville, N.C. UNCW dissected Troy, 73-50, to capture the championship of the Mako Medical Asheville Classic at UNCA’s Kimmel Arena. Coupled with a 76-68 verdict over host UNCA the day before, UNCW wound up as the only un- beaten in the MTE event. Junior guard Jaylen Sims led the Seahawks for the third straight game, pumping in a career-high 29 points with nine rebounds. The Charlotte, N.C., product fi nished the three games in Asheville with 80 points and 20 boards, converting 22-of-35 fi eld goals for 62.9 percent. The Seahawks used their long distance marksmanship to build a 42-29 margin at halftime and after the Trojans cut the defi cit to seven points, 46- 39, with just over 14 minutes remaining, UNCW went on a stifl ing 21-0 run to put the game away. Sophomore guard Desmond Williams was the lone Troy player in dou- ble digits with 15 points. The Trojans, frustrated by UNCW’s active defense, were held to 29.6 percent shooting and just 5-of-18 behind the arc.

Game #4 | East Carolina 88, UNCW 78, OT, Greenville, N.C. Junior forward Jayden Gardner scored eight of his 16 points in overtime and East Carolina survived a monster comeback by UNCW to carve out an 88-78 victory at Minges Coliseum. The previous fi ve matchups in the 67-game series saw the host team win on its home fl oor and Monday followed an identical script. ECU jumped out to a 51-37 lead at halftime until UNCW used a scorching 30-6 run to pull ahead by 10 points with seven minutes remaining. The Pirates then rallied to take the lead, but a spinning jumper by Sims with 13 seconds left in regulation knotted the game at 73-all before a bucket at the buzzer by the Pirates was waved off . ECU then dominated in the ex- tra period, outscoring UNCW, 15-5, in the fi ve-minute session to improve to 21-13 against the Seahawks in Minges and remain unbeaten through four games. Junior guard Jaylen Sims continued his early-season scoring surge, pouring in 28 points to anchor four players in double digits for the Sea- hawks, who shot 42.4 percent.
