Alfons Adetuyi

Alfons Adetuyi is an award‐winning director & producer recognized for both navigating the complexities of financing international co‐productions and producing successful cross‐cultural films and television series. He has produced over 130 episodes of prime-time television, which have sold internationally to more than 60 counties including: the US, and the UK. He initiated the first official co-production between Canada and with the ground breaking TV series EKHAYA: A FAMILY CHRONICLE in 1996 and returned to South Africa to produce and direct the popular medical series JOZI-H. A graduate of ’s Fanshawe College film program and the Canadian Film Centre’s Directors Lab. Alfons’ first film Survivors, about a black family forced to confront AIDS premiered at the Toronto International and was the first drama of its’ length to be written, produced and directed by people of color in Canada.

Alfons recently directed the Romantic-Comedy, LOVE JACKED, starring: Amber Stevens-West, Shamier Anderson, Mike Epps and Keith David. The film opened the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2018 and won the Programmers Award for Best Narrative Feature. Alfons also produced and directed the award-winning feature film HIGH CHICAGO, starring Colin Salmon (JAMES BOND, RESIDENT EVIL). During its recent festival tour of Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Chicago and Toronto, the film garnered both the Audience Choice Award and Best Canadian Feature at the ReelWorld Film Festival. Critics have called it, “Compelling and well crafted”. LA Weekly said, ”…the story pulls you in…” The film had a successful run on the festival circuit and was distributed internationally by Entertainment One. Alfons also acted as executive producer on YOU GOT SERVED: BEAT THE WORLD, the first dance feature to blend hip-hop and parkour (free running), which is distributed by Sony Pictures in the US, Entertainment One in Canada and the Wild Bunch in Europe. Alfons produced the award-winning feature documentary GANESH, BOY WONDER, which screened at the 2009 Hot Docs International Film Festival and the Montreal Film Festival. He produced and directed the award winning documentary series SKIN DEEP (SLICE NETWORK Canada and OXYGEN NETWORK US) and executive produced the dramatic TV series NORTH/SOUTH (CBC).

Alfons is currently developing a number of feature films and TV series as international co-productions with the US, , UK, and South Africa.
