Ashford Park Primary School Newsletter 11th September 2015 Inspiring a love for lifelong learning

Welcome to the latest edition of the Ashford Park Primary School Newsletter. No. 258

Dear All,

We welcome our children, families and staff who are new to Ashford Park, and warmly welcome back our current children, families and staff. A great many of the children returned ready and willing for the exciting, yet challenging opportunities that they will be experiencing throughout this term. Despite the rather wet summer holidays, the children clearly experienced wonderful memories, and have been confident and happy to talk about their experiences!

Please meet our prefects, head girls and head boys. These children will undoubtedly prove to be marvellous role models and we send our thanks to them in advance as they take on their positions of responsibility.

Mrs Jenny Phillips

It is with great sadness that we share the news with our school community that tragically, our teaching colleague of 17 years Mrs Phillips, died from cancer over the summer holidays. For all those who knew Jenny, she will always be

remembered for her sparkly, compassionate and creative personality and her love for all things purple! Jenny and Howard were also parents at Ashford Park, as their son Marcus was a pupil at our school, before moving on to secondary school. We send our love to the family, and will also hold on tightly to the wonderful memories that we have of working with such a talented professional.

Master Isaac Bloomer

We are delighted to announce the safe arrival of Master Isaac Bloomer and send our CONGRATULATIONS to Mr and Mrs Bloomer on Isaac’s safe arrival on 1st September 2015. Mr Bloomer is currently on paternity leave, but will be returning to teach his year 5 class in the very near future.

Mr and Mrs Stanford Smith! We send our congratulations to Emma and Frazer.

Uniform Reminder

PLEASE work in partnership with us and be reminded that the Ashford Park school uniform is red and grey, and not black. It is the expectation that the children also wear black leather shoes and not “Van” type canvas shoes as part of their school uniform.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Earrings and Pierced Ears

Please ensure that your children’s earrings are removed on PE days.

Statement from the Surrey County Council website:

Wearing jewellery, earrings, ear studs (including body piercings) during physical education lessons, other sporting activities or any other form of physical activity should not be allowed - for the safety of the wearer and others.

As newly pierced ears can take up to six weeks before sleepers/studs can be removed, arrange piercings at the start of the school summer holidays. (As advised in our 26th June Newsletter)

As PE is a compulsory subject (and at a time when we are all - adults and children alike - being encouraged to increase our amount of physical activity), we want all children to have every opportunity to take a full and active part in the provision.

Thank you for your support with this.

School Meal Prices as from September 2015
