The Southlake Club, Mundelein November 1-2, 2008 Tournament Director – Cindy Flores-Mocarski

With Halloween just over and the holiday season on the horizon, the Pumpkin Open brought out a goodly number of racquetball aficionados to enjoy Southlake’s hospitality and competitive opportunities.

Great food, cooked fresh outside on the grill…the hottest pico de gallo on the planet (but I’m a lightweight)…the bar right there, with seating strategically placed so you could watch football and racquetball almost simultaneously by turning 180 degrees in either direction. For some, that’s the definition of “heaven.”

Gratitude We had the pleasure of welcoming Jim Maroon, Deepak Panduranga and John Richier from over Peoria way. Noting the picture of Jim and Deepak in this article, we had no idea it would be Deepak’s last tournament in Illinois – he was com- pelled to return to India in January when his job at Caterpillar was eliminated. We wish him much luck, and hope he’ll be able to return to us one day soon.

Tournament Director Cindy Flores-Mocarski offers her thanks to Michelle Halverson, Maria Limonciello, Lori Good, Doug Halverson, Howie Robins, and Kevin Brylski for volunteering their time and efforts to assist.

And, special kudos go to Alok Mehta who was ready to leave for home when asked to referee the Brylski/Coyle Men’s Open match. He graciously agreed to stay when reminded that not just anyone had the skill and the credibility to ref that one!

Thanks to all who came out to play, and check out the full re- sults below.
