Overview
A project of One Stop Border Post (OSBP) is currently in place at Namanga border. The investment allows sharing of informatics system and speeding up the flows between Kenya and Tanzania. The OSBP is in the testing phase as of now with its effectiveness being vividly evidenced.

Daily Capacity
At this border, private cars use a separate lane. The border is busy with 2,486 trucks passing on an average (September 2017) including Importation, transit and empty trucks.
Customs Clearance
Usual documents required for the custom clearance include invoice, packing list, permits, and the contract signed between the customer and the clearance agent, if any. The truck driver has to present his passport to the authority. Note that the goods could be subject to examination upon entering the country. The fees vary in function of the origin, destination, and the number of axles. For small vehicles, the fees are mainly based on the longer of the journey in Tanzania.

Other Relevant Information
The Authorities (Tanzania Revenue Authority, TRA) has liaison officers in Nairobi (airport) and Mombasa (port). They process pre-launched documents on (Tanzania Customs Automated System – TANSIS). When the cargo arrives at the Namanga Customs offices, it is subject to final verification with other Authorities like Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA), Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) etc.
At the border, this process takes a maximum of 2-3 hours to obtain the approval for further transportation.
