China Sister School Program For the past ten years, our school has shared a sister school relationship with Dali Prefec- Diary Dates

reasons, including increasing costs associated with the trip, the current exchange rate, and more recently the challenges associated with international travel and  College Council AGM - the Coronavirus, all schools involved in the /Dali exchange (Red Cliffs SC, Tuesday, 17 March at P-10, St. Joseph’s College and Trinity Lutheran School, plus the three schools in 7.00pm Dali) have agreed to place the exchange program on hold for 2020. All parties involved have gained so much from the sister school partnership, and hundreds of students from both and Yunnan Province have experienced life, food and culture in a different  Immunisation for Year country which have been life-changing opportunities. We hope that we can rekindle this 7 & 10 students - relationship in the future, so that our students can continue to learn from each other. Wednesday, 18 March

Visitors to School March All visitors to school (including parents) are required to come to the main reception. It is important that the school knows who is on site at all times. A sign-in kiosk is located at the front reception, which is directly opposite the main car park.

Students travelling to school by bus All students who travel to school by bus must only disembark at the school and must stay at school. The school has legal duty of care once the student leaves home – students who are going to see friends in the morning or going “up the street” make it extremely Successful difficult for the school to be able to carry out its duty of care. If your child is a bus travel- ler, please discuss this matter with them, and ensure that they are going straight to school in the mornings.

College Council Thank you for those people who have indicated an interest in being on College Council. At the close of nominations, the applications received for each category were equal to or less than the number of vacancies, therefore no election is required.

Staff nominations:  Kylie Morrish  Peter Manno

Student nomination:  Mackenzie Phelan

Parent nominations:  Evita Jones  Nicole Rhode  vacancy

Community nominations:  Bill Maher  vacancy

As we still have vacancies in the parent section, please contact the school if you would like to be a member of our council. Meetings are twice a term, occurring on a Tuesday night from 7.30pm.

Students can make their own appointments with no fee as it is a government funded program.

MY CAREER INSIGHTS

On Monday and Tuesday all Year 9 students participated in the first phase of the Morrisby Careers Assessments. The program helps students to learn about what skills and abilities they could bring to a job and find out what jobs match their abilities, interests and personality. It also identifies the subjects that students could best study in order to follow their career aspirations. All year 9 students throughout government secondary schools in are able to be involved in the program.

The second phase is students receiving an individualised report based on their answers and accessing a one-to-one interview with a trained Careers Adviser to explain the report. Students participated well in the testing sessions.

APPOINTMENTS and EARLY LEAVERS

Parents are requested, where possible, to arrange student appointments and commitments outside college hours. If necessary, procedures for Early Leavers must be followed. We appreciate that unexpected circumstances arise, however, where possible notice in advance would be appreciated before collecting the student from school as it is extremely difficult for us to locate stu- dents during the school day without disruption to the learning time in classes.

ABSENCES, LATE ARRIVALS and EARLY LEAVERS

If your child is going to be absent, late to school, or has an appointment which requires them to be collected early – please mark this in on Compass, or alternatively send a note with your child or phone the Sub School Office so we can do it for you. Without a note when absent from school, your child will be marked “Unexplained” and this will need updating by you on Compass or a note after the event or a phone call to the Sub School Office. If you need to collect your child early from school, please follow the same process.

CHANGES OF ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBERS, WORK OR EMERGENCY CONTACT DETAILS

If there have been any changes to your address, phone number, work details or emergency contact details please notify the col- lege so details can be updated. This is particularly helpful if your child is unwell or has an accident at school and we need to con- tact families to make arrangements to pick them up from Sick Bay. Your assistance in this matter will be greatly appreciated.
