To be completed in 2005. Millennium Development Goals: Beyond Averages in LAC. A data base and an analytical reporto A joint project with IDB to be completed in 2005. Global Gender Inequalities. Discusses global trends and address the role of income in reducing gender inequalities (to be completed in 2005). Assessing Conditional Transfer Programmes for Africa. Pro-poor Growth and Policies. Defining and measuring pro-poor growth; initial conditions, interrelationship among growth, poverty and inequality; defining and measuring pro-poor polices; country cases studies. Three methodological papers have been completed.

MDG Costing for 15 African Countries. Estimates growth, investment and ODA rates required to halve poverty in 15 African countries and Vemen by 2015. This methodology is being applied to several other countries as demand is increasing.

Ageing, Poverty and the Role of Social Pensions in Africa. Estimates of poverty among the elderly and the youth in households, and a discussion of the potential impact of income transfers. A collaborative project with the World Bank. Completed. ---~ ~, -~ - Research Projects (continued)

Gender Discrimination and Poverty. A discussion of indicators of gender inequality; the linkage between the gender gap in education and poverty; gender inequality, occupational segregation and wage discrimination; intra-group gender inequalities and broad trends in gender inequalities.

Disability and Inclusive Development. Lessons from cash benefits programs targeted to disable persons in Latin America and the Caribbean (IPC and World Bank).
