 Jennings and Wong are playing in their second SWATCH FIVB World Tour event this season after placing ninth last week on the Finnish Isle of Aland after qualifying for the Main Draw.  Jennings and Wong earned a Milner Open Main Draw berth via a “lucky loser” draw after losing their final qualifying match Wednesday to a team from Brazil.  Jennings started the 2010 season playing with Brad Keenan as the pair placed fourth at the Russian Grand Slam in June in Moscow.  By advancing to the semi-finals in Moscow, Jennings exceeded US$100,000 in his FIVB career earnings. He currently ranks 102nd with US$126,385.  Jennings is competing in his fourth SWATCH FIVB World Tour semi-final after placing third in a 2008 Croatian stop in Zagreb and a second in 2009 Polish event in Myslowice with Matt Fuerbringer.  Jennings is married to Kerri Walsh, the two-time Olympic and three-time world champion.  Jennings became a father for the second-time May 19. The Jennings boys are named Joey and Sundance.  Jennings competed on the 2010 American domestic tour with Keenan as the pair’s best finish was a third-place for six events.  Wong is playing in this first SWATCH FIVB World Tour semi-final since 2003 when he placed second with Stein Metzger at the Austrian Grand Slam in Klagenfurt.  Wong and Metzger captured two SWATCH FIVB World Tour in 2001 at Gstaad, Switzerland, and 202 in Espinho, Portugal  Wong competed in the Sydney 2000 where he and Rob Heidger placed fifth after being elimination by eventual gold medal winners and Eric Fonoimona.  Wong ranks 48th in FIVB career earnings ($282,200).  Wong is competing in his 13th SWATCH FIVB World Tour semi-final.  Wong has placed on a SWATCH FIVB World Tour podium 10 times in his 88 previous international starts with five final appearances, three silver medals and five third-place finishes.  Wong competed on the 2010 American domestic tour with Casey Patterson as the pair posted two third-place finishes in seven events. th  Boersma and Spijkers are competing in their third SWATCH FIVB World Tour event after placing ninth and 17 the past two weeks in Kristiansand, Norway, and Mariehamn (Aland), Finland.  The Milner Open “final four” marks Boersma’s second semi-final appearance after he and Bram Ronnes placed fourth at the 2008 Norwegian Grand Slam in Stavanger.  Boersma and Ronnes competed in the 2008 Olympic Games where the Dutch pair placed 17th.  Prior to this week’s Milner Open, Spijkers’ best SWATCH FIVB World Tour placement was a ninth two weeks ago with Boersma in Kristiansand, Norway.  The Milner Open is only Spijkers third appearance in a SWATCH Main Draw as he teamed with Niels van de Sande to place 17th last season in an FIVB event at Shanghai, China.  Spijkers started the 2010 season playing with Jon Stiekema as the pair failed to qualify for SWATCH FIVB World Tour Main Draws in China, Poland, the Czech Republic and France with a 2-4 record.  Spijkers and Stiekema placed fifth earlier this season at the European Challenger/Satellite event in Lausanne, Switzerland.  Spijkers competed in youth and junior FIVB world championships in 2004, 2005 and 2006 with three different partners.  At the 2004 world finals for players under the age of 18, Spijkers placed fifth in Italy with Marco Daalmeijer.  Benjamin and Bruno are concluding their first season together on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour.  Benjamin and Bruno are competinjg in their second FIVB “final four” this season after placing third in the first event of 2010 in Brasilia.  Benjamin competed with four different partners during the 2009 SWATCH season, including Hevaldo Moreira, Pedro Salgado, and Thiago Santos Barbosa.  Benjamin and Salgado captured a 2009 gold medal at the Polish stop in Stare Jablonki where the pair defeated and of Germany in the finals.  Benjamin and Harley Marques competed together during the 2004, 2005 and 2006 seasons with eight podium placements and 11 “final four” appearances.  Benjamin and Harley captured SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medals at the 2005 Canadian stop in Montreal and the 2008 season finale in Sanya, China.  Benjamin competed in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games with Marcio Araujo where the Brazilians placed ninth.  Benjamin and Marcio Araujo participated in 46 FIVB events with eight gold medals, 18 podium placements and 23 “final four” finishes. Seven of the eight titles were at SWATCH stops.  Benjamin also won a FIVB Challenger title in 2007 at Cyprus with Bruno de Paula.  Bruno is the nephew of legendary Brazilian basketball player Oscar Schmidt.  Bruno and Salgado captured the gold medal at the 2006 FIVB Junior world championshps in Myslowice, Poland.  Bruno and Joao Maciel captured a FIVB satellite event in 2007 at Lausanne, Switzerland.  Bruno and Maciel competed in 27 FIVB events the past three seasons (2007-2009).  Bruno and Maciel posted two SWATCH “final four” appearances in 2008 with a second in Norway (Kristiansand) and a fourth in Brazil (Guarajà).  Bruno’s uncle (Oscar Schmidt) is basketball’s all-time scorer and four-time Brazilian Olympian.  Benjamin and Bruno have posted an 20-6 match mark this season on the Brazilian domestic tour with a second and three thirds for six events.
