Botanical Garden Painted in Children’s Colours

“Eurobank EFG Park – European Garden in the Botanical Garden” art contest

Belgrade, November 13, 2008 - Eurobank EFG and the Botanical Garden Jevremovac organised an art contest for children on the following topic: “Eurobank EFG Park – European Garden in the Botanical Garden”. Children from “Vuk Karadži ć”, “Vlada Aksentijevi ć” and “Oslobodioci Beograda” primary schools have drawn together at the Botanical Garden today.

Members of the best drawing selection committee were: Nataša Kova čevi ć, member of the Executive Board of Eurobank EFG, Prof. Petar Marin, Director of the Botanical Garden, and the Deputy Mayor of , Radmila Hrustanovi ć. The awarded works will be presented at a central exhibition in Belgrade, after the completion of all Eurobank EFG Parks in .

“As an organization which promotes European values, we are proud that we contribute to environmental protection in Serbia and we promote such initiatives to the young generation.. Children have expressed their impressions of the park in a original and creative manner. We are glad to exhibit these beautiful works at the central art exhibition, which will include selected drawings from different competitions is several Serbian towns”. said Nataša Kova čevi ć, a member of the Executive Board in Eurobank EFG.

Cooperation between Eurobank and the Botanical Garden was launched in September 2006, with a donation of EUR 35,000 for the development of the European Garden within the Botanical Garden, i.e. the “dicotyledons” system parcel with the European florae, which has also served as part of the basic studies for students of the Faculty of Biology at the University of Belgrade. The parcel of 500 square meters in the centre of the green city oasis was expanded with more than 500 new plants, including primarily European florae.

Owing to the continuation of cooperation with Eurobank EFG, Botanical Garden has been additionally decorated this year. Topiary - a botanical installation of a peacock made of brazed aluminum and green floral creeping plants has been erected at the green oasis of Belgrade, attracting high interest among visitors.

The Eurobank EFG European Garden is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility project of the Bank titled “Eurobank EFG PARKS” , implemented successfully through donations for reconstructing central city parks in six cities of Serbia so far (Belgrade – Botanical Garden, Rainbow Park and Wedding Park at , Novi Sad – Danube Park, Niš – Čair Park, Pan čevo – Public Garden, – Park of the Teachers’ Training Faculty, Požarevac – Sunny Park).
