Through the Asset Recycling Initiative the Commonwealth is also providing a total of $2.19 billion to New South Wales towards: Sydney’s Rail Future – 2018 98.4 Timetable Program: Comprises 10 inter-related infrastructure projects that are designed to enable changes to the rail timetable. The projects include signaling, track, and power upgrades that are required to enable the timetable changes. Parramatta Light Rail: 78.3 Construction of a new Light Rail line from Westmead to Strathfield via Sydney Olympic Park and to Carlingford via the Carlingford Rail Line. Pinch Points and Clearways: 52.2 Removing 43 bottlenecks or “pinch points” on Sydney’s roads through intersection upgrades, widening of small sections of road, installation of variable message signs and the installation of signage. Smart Motorways: 60.0 Provision of a suite of integrated ‘smart’ technologies and infrastructure upgrades on the M4 Motorway between Lapstone and Parramatta. Gateway to the South: 39.2 Delivery of pinch point treatments and bus priority improvements on corridors in Southern Sydney to provide short to medium term congestion relief. 14 NEW SOUTH WALES Key projects Funding Total Location 2017–18 Australian Government $m funding 2013–14 to 2020–21 $m Regional Road Freight Corridor - 30.3 New England Highway: Delivery of three sub-projects: 1. Aberdeen to Willow Tree Pavement Strengthening Package. 2. Singleton Bypass – route options consideration. 3. Belford to Golden Highway duplication – widening the highway from a three lane undivided road to a four lane dual carriageway between Belford and the Golden highway. Regional Road Freight Corridor - 52.5 Princes Highway: Extending the Princes Motorway to bypass Albion Park Rail, with dual carriageway. The bypass and new junction with the Illawarra Highway will have improved flood immunity. Regional Road Freight Corridor - 5.7 Mitchell Highway: 7.2 kilometre realignment of the Mitchell Highway between Orange and Molong. Regional Road Freight Corridor - 78.8 Newell Highway: Delivery of three sub-projects: 1. Newell Highway upgrades – upgrades including heavy duty pavements; town bypasses; road widening / realignment; and flood mitigation works. 2. Mungle Back Creek to Boggabilla - Heavy Duty Pavement – includes the rehabilitation of 28 kilometres of pavement between Mungle Back Creek and Boggabilla to support the growing number of heavy vehicles. 3.
