Shop 'til You Drop Mr. Selfridge, Season 2 Starring as London’s mercantile king On MASTERPIECE Sundays, March 30 to May 18, 2014 at 9pm ET on PBS

Three-time Emmy® winner Jeremy Piven (Entourage) returns for a sumptuous new season of Mr. Selfridge as the man who brought seductive shopping to early twentieth-century London, on Mr. Selfridge, Season 2. A Co-Production of ITV Studios and MASTERPIECE, the second season runs over eight Sundays beginning March 30, 2014 at 9pm ET on MASTERPIECE on PBS (check local listings).

Season 2 continues the drama surrounding the birth of Selfridge & Co., the pioneering London department store founded in 1909 by American capitalist buccaneer, Harry Gordon Selfridge—portrayed with passion, charm, and a generous dose of human flaws by Piven.

The premiere season made the sale, with the Wall Street Journal praising the program as “addicting…opening a treasure box of tales about love, loss, ambition, and the spirit of a new age.” The Los Angeles Times found “something for everyone.” The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette recognized “Mad Men meets Upstairs Downstairs.” And The New York Daily News marveled, “Mr. Selfridge takes us to the starting line for the accelerated urban life of the future.”

The returning cast includes Frances O’Connor (Madame Bovary) as Harry’s decent, down-to-earth wife, Rose; Aisling Loftus (Page Eight) as Agnes Towler, the gutsy sales clerk promoted to head of display; Amanda Abbington (Sherlock Season 3) as Miss Mardle, jilted in love last season but smiled on by fate in the new series; and Ron Cook (Little Dorrit) as Mr. Crabb, the store’s money man with the bunny-in-the-headlights stare.

Also back are Katherine Kelly () as showgirl-turned-socialite Lady Mae; Grégory Fitoussi (World War Z) as Henri Leclair, brilliant window designer, strangely evasive about his recent travels; Samuel West (Any Human Heart) as enterprising journalist Frank Edwards, whose scoops threaten disaster; Tom Goodman-Hill (Case Histories) as stern personnel director Mr. Grove, now a father many times over; and Trystan Gravelle (Anonymous) as Victor Colleano, the good-looking, ambitious manager of the store’s Palm Court Restaurant.

Joining the cast are Polly Walker (Miss Marple) as Delphine Day, risqué novelist and proprietor of a brilliant new nightclub; Cal Macaninch () as Mr. Thackeray, the sharp-tongued new head of fashion; and Aidan McArdle (Jane Eyre) as Lord Loxley, Lady Mae’s absentee husband, who suddenly shows up to recoup the fortune he has gambled away, while tormenting his wife and her close friends—notably Harry. -more-

Mr. Selfridge, Season 2 opens in the spring of 1914 with the store’s gala fifth anniversary. Many employees have moved up the promotion ladder, some have moved on, and Rose has moved out—back to America from pique with Harry over his blatant infidelities. She unexpectedly returns to London, but as a changed woman. Meanwhile the loose ends of love affairs from last season get tied up as men are called to serve in a war that will change their lives forever.

As in every other sphere of society, World War I puts the store, its employees, managers, and the galaxy of characters who revolve around this symbol of progress to the severest test yet.

Mr. Selfridge Season 2 is a Co-Production of ITV Studios and MASTERPIECE and based on "Shopping, Seduction & Mr. Selfridge" by Lindy Woodhead.
