17 We can help with Arts Award and Artsmark

Coventry Transport Museum, the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum and the Lunt Roman Fort are Arts Award Supporter organisations. This means that taking part in visits to the museums can count towards a young person’s Arts Award qualification.

The Coventry museums offer a range of activities that children and young people can use as evidence when working towards their Arts Award. This includes opportunities to:

experience a range of art forms participate in arts activities through school sessions and special art and design workshops find out about artists and cultural opportunities access arts and cultural events which children and young people can review share skills or lead arts projects, inspired by their museum visit, back at school

When a school applies for Artsmark status, a key part of the application is the ability to evidence partnerships with artists and arts organisations. For example, engagement with the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum through the activities outlined in this brochure would count as one of these partnerships.

Arts Connect West Midlands are proud to be a partner working with Coventry museums and schools. If, through your engagement with the Coventry museums, you have further queries about pursuing either Artsmark or Arts Award, please contact Karen Jones, Artsmark and Arts Award Co-ordinator at Arts Connect West Midlands on: 01902 518 592 or [email protected] or alternatively you can visit www.artsconnectwm.co.uk
