Since 1973, SPI and its predecessors have transferred over 235,000 acres of private timberland in into public ownership at the local, state, and federal levels. Often, these transfers were made in cooperation with conservation groups such as the Trust for Public Land. These lands include many high conservation value lands such as the Sacramento River Bend Outstanding Natural Area, Mt. Lola, Martis Peak, Perazzo Meadows, and lands along the American, Yuba, and Rubicon Rivers. They were selected for public ownership due to their particularly high conservation or recreational value, and offer the public tremendous opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. We continually examine our landholdings for transfers of high conservation value properties into public ownership. Following is a list of SPI lands that have been transferred thus far.
