Master Class with Baritone Kurt Ollmann Friday, March 18, 2016 3.45 PM – 5.15 PM Simons Recital Hall (Room 104) Simons Center for the Arts College of Charleston, Charleston, SC

Kurt Ollmann has specialized in French and American song throughout his career. He coached with and Gérard Souzay, and has recorded songs of Albert Roussel and Jacques Leguerney for French labels EMI Pathé-Marconi and Harmonia Mundi-France. He has also worked closely with American , Ned Rorem, Ricky Ian Gordon, Michael Torke, Richard Faith and others, and has premiered songs and song cycles by many of them. As a clinician, Mr. Ollmann addresses interpretation of texts and their musical settings, focusing on diction and acting, as well as technical vocal matters. The goal is always clear: purposeful storytelling through all the means available to the singer. Mr. Ollmann will work with five, potentially six (5-6) singers in repertoire that includes American and French Mélodie.
