She began her career at the BBC where she worked on both Play School and on Doctor Who. She went on to be an award-winning businesswoman before working as Bursar at two colleges. Sal has been a prominent campaigner all her political life. Recently she has worked in the on behalf of same sex marriage, the right to die with dignity and to toughen up the law on stalking. Sal has been the driving force behind the fight to get more Lib Dem women, members of ethnic minorities and other under- represented groups elected to Parliament, local government WWW.SALBRINTON.CO.UK and party committees. Sal has been a grassroots activist, a councillor, a council group leader and a parliamentary candidate in a development seat. At the last two General Elections she stood in the target seat of . She will be a strong voice for party campaigners, councillors and members. She will be a force for common sense, in touch with members’ liberal values and speaking up on our behalf at the highest levels of the Party. Fellow Liberal Democrats, I believe the new Lib Dem President will have three main tasks at this challenging time: · To listen to members and make sure that their views are heard by LDHQ, our Parliamentarians and our Party leadership. · To work with ALDC to support hardworking local activists and rebuild our local government base. · To protect Liberal values and policies and our democratic principles within the party. We face a tough time over the next two years. Our first priority must be to focus on next year’s elections. However, many members and activists have told me of the changes we need to make in the party– I agree.

I will be a hands-on President, reforming party processes and holding our leaders and party HQ to account. I have experience as a local campaigner, as a candidate and as a member of the House of Lords.

I have the time and a record of action and success working with our Party and other organisations, taking them through difficult times and making change happen.
