The Peaks Weed Management Area (SFPWMA), the Arboretum at Flagstaff (The Arb), the Museum of Northern and the Arizona State Forestry Division are collaborating to survey private properties adjacent to the Flagstaff Watershed Protection Project (FWPP) for invasive and noxious plant colonies. Noxious and invasive non-native plants often spread across boundaries and jurisdictions onto neighboring properties. While the Forest Service is surveying and treating noxious and invasive weeds as part of the FWPP, they cannot do anything “across the fence” on private lands. That is why we need your cooperation now.

The SFPWMA asks your permission to survey for, treat, and monitor noxious invasive plant populations. Our biological field technicians will need to survey your property for invasive plants beginning mid to late June. We also request to potentially treat, and re-seed with native plants and monitor results at no charge to property owners. In some cases and where appropriate, the SFPWMA may apply insect controls, and The Arb may distribute native plant seed mixes. This group will also sponsor and conduct neighborhood weed control events and plant identification clinics that will be organized separately. You and your neighbors are encouraged to visit www.thearb.org to download, digitally fill out and e-sign the PDF version of this permission form and register to attend plant identification clinics or volunteer at our neghborhood weed control events.

This agreement will not hold proprietors liable for any costs related to the surveying, treatment, monitoring or revegetation of your property. We will work closely with property owners to address any needs and concerns. All personal information provided will be for single-use and non-commercial purposes only. Thank you for your participation and cooperation on this important project.
