Jérémie Pellerin and Kamylle Frenette recorded the fastest times of the Université de Moncton teams at the cross country championships on

Saturday in City.

Pellerin, a senior from Cocagne, placed 61st in the men’s 10-kilometre race in a time of 32:35.2.

He was the third best Atlantic University Sport conference men’s finisher.

“I am very happy with my last university race,”he said.“My progress over the years was appreciated and run in 32:35 on a hard and windy course and finish

61st is great. My big surprise is my third AUS finish. We were solid today.”

Other UdeM entries were Bryan Thomas placing 119th in 34:20.6, Nassim

Boushama 129th in 34:41.6 and Rémi Poitras 132nd in 34:50.8.

Riverview’s Angus MacIntosh, running for the , was 64th in 32:45.3. Dieppe’s Pier-Luc Roy, running for the Carabins, was 141st in

35:34.2.

Yves Sikubwabo of the won the men’s race in 30:51. Laval claimed the men’s team title for the first time.

Frenette was UdeM’s top finisher in the women’s six-kilometre race, completing the course in 101st place in 24:30.5.

UdeM’s Carol-Ann MacDonald of Irishtown was 109th in 24:42.0.

“Our runners did quite well today. Three men broke the 35-minute barrier which means progress for us. The women did well also. They were caught in the group in the first kilometre and could not run as fast as anticipated,” said UdeM coach

Jean-Marc Doiron.

“It was a great experience and I expect these runners to attain another level in the months to come.”

Claire Summer of the Queen’s Gaels captured the women’s race in 21:09.3. The

Guelph Gryphons took the women’s team title for the 12th straight year.
